I’ve noticed this has become an accepted action basketball today but it irks me to no end, when a guy on defense just plays Matador defense and gets out the way of the offensive player going up for a layup instead of trying to contest or commit a hard foul. Granted with the rules today against hard fouls players might be worried of getting a flagrant but still, don’t just give up and let them have an easy layup or dunk, this isn’t pick up hoops.

who else agrees? What are some of your pet peeves watching or playing basketball

    1. Players who dribble the ball too much and play hero ball

    2. Defenders who don’t close out hard enough on shooters with a hand up… I can’t stand defenders who play with their hands at their waist period

    3. Big guys who don’t rebound or finish well around the rim

Ok, so this isn’t an actual basketball play, but I can’t stand when somebody does the whole plate and spoon with his hand act. It is seriously lame and I can never forgive that player. Yes, James Harden, I even lost respect for you.

I just turned on the Houston/Clipper game and within 2 minutes Harden did it again! Did he invent it or something? I mean I’ve seen others do it, but it’s usually some immature kid on the bench or some 10 year old in the stands. I did lol when they showed a fan in the crowd dressed as a chef and had a laddle doing the whole bit. For the record I have nothing against Houston, and don’t care who wins the series. I seriously have had this "pet peev" for awhile.

Ok, I’m a bit of a Harden hater I guess. I can’t stand one-way offensive players. People should actually try on the defensive side of the ball. Harden shows little to no interest in even adequate defence. It’s not just him, I hate Melo too…

After a dead ball call that was in the result of a turnover and the opposing team player decides to hold on to ball for some time

Big men who don’t bother to box out or get position because they’ve gotten away with being more athletic their whole lives. Then they play the Grizzlies or Spurs and look like chumps.

My pet peeve which I absolutely hate is players who in their final year of contract put 100% effort in and have a "career season" – meaning they play their best bball and play virtually all the games. Then when they get a nice new contract, don’t play up to standard and/or start missing games. I absolutely HATE this….

100% agree on this one. I hate it when big men don’t rebound. Btw, rebounding is not only getting the ball, it’s also boxing out so one of your teammates gets the ball. All big men should box out.

Players who don’t box out? See Andre Drummond and DeAndre Jordan.

Well, they box out sometimes. I was aiming at the Brook Lopez/Bargnani/Blake Griffin type of big men.

Not getting back on defense. I was watching game 6 of Houston and LA, I dont know how many easy layups were given up. Just hustle and get back on D. Simple.

Mine has got to be watching players not go after loose rebounds or box out properly.

Was really noticeable with the Bulls-Cavs game.
