A bunch of us graded our teams draft class over the last 3 years a week or two ago and it's been killing me that my twolves could have potentially had a starting 5 of Rubio at pg, Derozen at sg, ? At sf, love at pf, and Cousins at the 5. They could have had this team based on where drafting and who was available. Anyone else out there have a team that just totally F***ed up their drafts.
I feel like if minnneosta did draft those other two guys instead of Johnny Flynn and Wes Johnson theyd be a top 5 tram in the west if healthy agree or na?
Raptors from like 2003-2011.. ugh shut up and don't remind me haha
What's bugging me is when is nbadraft.net going to update the NBA Draft grades in the NBA draft history section? It's been "coming soon" for has been years.
I don't know, I've been relentlessly searching for the seven dragonballs so I can wish it done
I actually think the Timber-wolves might had made right decision on passing on Cousins if they have drafted Monroe or Paul George ,but surely not for Johnson
You're so right, and I know I was one of the people saying this before the draft. Cousins would of been a much better pick then Wes no doubt, but Cousins and Love are both high volume shooting big men who don't play great defense and would get in each others way for their best attribute which is rebounding.
But I thought the Wolves should of got Paul George who was a versatile wing that could shoot the ball, run the floor and play defense, and he just seemed like the perfect running mate for when Rubio eventually came over. Of course a lot of teams passed on Paul George who whatever reason. Like I was praying the Clips drafted George to pair him with Griffin and Jordan and they had a huge hole at SF.
Also the Wiz should of drafted Kanter over Derrick Williams. The Wiz just made some really bad picks because they picked guys who were neither the BPA nor did they fill a need, so it made so little sense. Also Curry would of been my pick over Flynn, Holiday and Derozan in that draft. Cuz Curry could ran point til Rubio came over, then switched to SG and been the recipient of open 3's due to Rubio kick outs.
But if Khan didn't put as much thought in to them as I did them why am I doing it?
As for my team the only pick I really disagreed with for the Sixers was drafting Turner over Cousins but I wasn't mad when they drafted Turner because I loved him in college I just thought Cousins was the lightning rod type and dominate big man that Philly would embrace. And I was disapointed when they drafted Moultrie over Perry Jones and Quincy Miller 2 guys I think will be nice players in the future, but Moultrie is a good player himself, but his injury seemed to effect him,
Another move the Sixers made was trading for Bynum which was risky because look at what Vooch is doing in Orlando. And they could of traded Iggy for the 7th pick. So now I'm imagining what would of been had the Sixers kept Vooch and drafted Drummond, to develop alongside Jrue, Evan and Thad.
A line up of rubio at PG, Jeremy lamb at SG(they traded the most recent first round draft pick for marco Jaric, so they could have had that one too and selected lamb) Derozen at SF, Love at PF Cousins or monroe at center that would have been a good young team and adelman would be able to do great things with them.
I'm glad everyone is using hindsight today
At the time those picks weren't that bad. I don't think anyone predicted Flynn and Wes Johnson to be busts.
The Grizzlies taking Thabeet as the second pick was a bit of a shocker. Most of us predicted he wouldn't be that good - it wasn't that much of a secret. They could have taken James Harden with that pick.
Conley, Harden, Gay, Z-Bo and Gasol is a pretty impressive lineup. In reality, they prob couldn't afford to pay both Gay and Harden so one of them would of bolted anyway....
I disagree I think they were bad at the time. What were they going to due with a Flynn Rubio backcourt? Now if they drafted Flynn and Demar it'd be a different story. Plus I never thought Flynn should of been drafted over Curry, Jennings, or Holiday, even back then I never saw why he was such a highly rated prospect.
And the Wes Johnson pick was bad because he was taken over Cousins and Monroe, and I had him as the 2nd best SF in the draft behind George as did a lot of other people I know did. There was nothing Wes could do that George couldn't and Wes had zero potential even back then.
Phila9012 they couldn't have been able to get lamb. Minnesota had the 16th pick and lamb went 12th or 14th. Also i dont think Monroe/love would have been as good as cousins/love. Head issues aside cause ithink addleman makes him grow up a bit cause of the respect he commands but love pulls his man ouside of the paint with his shooting ability leaving cousins most likely with one big man defending him...i do like paul george tho so no complaints there
no they traded their own pick for marco jaric like 5 years ago. their own pick was number 10. To me it is a toss up, but I like monroe because he is good at passing, can score in the post and he has a good head on his shoulders. Cousins is a better talent and that is less second guessing because he was picked one pick behind their pick, as opposed to 3.
