it's sounds ridiculous..but

it's sounds ridiculous..but who knows..by the time MJ was 27 he hasn't been in the finals and had only one MVP so....

but i don't know i think even if LeBron would win a couple more rings it will be just too jard to compare them they are just different i would rather compare Kobe as a just behind MJ..and LeBron compares better with Magic Johnson..like Phil Jackson said Kobe and MJ are scorers LeBron is playmakers pass first player with a huge scoring talent..

he is allaround stud, one and only like MJ is one and only too..so if LeBron gets two three more the debate could become unstoppable

Lebron has the more well

Lebron has the more well rounded game. He can rebound better and he can defend more positions. But he doesn't have Jordans jumper and the ability to score is very important. Lebron took his game to next level by realizing that if he posted up more and attacked the basket more he wouldn't have to rely on his iffy jumper. If Lebron continues to do this and if the league can't find a way to stop it (which we don't know because he really only has done this transformation in the last three games against OKC), then Lebron's scoring might start to equal Jordan. But there are other deeper teams out there who might have better answers to Lebron's post game. The Lakers for example with World Peace beefing up against Lebron would not be as susceptible to a post-based attack.

But he also needs to not get injured and not lose athleticism significantly for another six years to get the championships. Much too soon to predict him being better than Jordan.

Come on stop with that sh**

Come on stop with that sh** jordan had a 38ppg season a DPOY award 3 scoring championships and he had to face the bad boys at their primes not a 22y point guard with a mediocre supporting cast, the orlando magic!!!!) and the 2010 boston celtics...and dont's start with this mvp thing..mj had to challenge two GOAT candidates and he was robbed from one award..congrats to lebron he is a top 2 sf ever but the player who can challenge jordan's 27-35 years of DOMINANCE has not born yet

I just can't put Lebron over

I just can't put Lebron over Jordan....Jordan faced much better competition(in my opinion), did it in a time when being breathed on wasn't a foul, and Jordan was 21 when he entered the league and won his first ring at 28 while Lebron was 18 and won his first ring at 27, a 2 year winning difference between the two.

It's ridiculously early for

It's ridiculously early for it, but if Lebron wins enough rings, going through a healthy Bulls and Thunder team, it's a possibility. Jordan's a far better scorer and always will be, but Lebron's a better passer and rebounder. Both are elite defenders, with Jordan more shutdown and Lebron more versatile. A lot will depend on if Lebron stays in the post. He's unguardable when he's willing to take smaller defenders down there thanks to his passing and that alone makes the Heat incredibly hard to match up with.

LeBron is slightly younger

LeBron is slightly younger than MJ when he won his first title but he would need a near decade of Miami dominance to get near what MJ achived during his Championship Era at Chicago. Don't forget that MJ missed nearly two years and could well have played another year or two near his peak for Chicago after his 2nd retirement so he may well have equalled of beaten Boston's record of consecutive titles in the Bill Russell era.

Also stats wise MJ was around 32 ppg for his Chicago career so he beats LeBron on that also. LeBron is the greatest player of his era and the best player in the NBA but he isn't MJ. It's almost like comparing any other boxer in history to Ali.

For all you people who think

For all you people who think LeBron will be better than Jordan just youtube highlights of both of them and then see if you feel the same. I'm not saying he wont have better stats but for me it's all about what you see and watching Jordan play brings a tear to my eye. LeBron is great but no Jordan. Let LeBron enjoy his own legacy and leave MJ out of it.

If you run into someone who

If you run into someone who is too young to have seen Jordan play they probably already believe Lebron is the best player ever. My Dad used to laugh at me when I'd say Michael Jordan was the best back when he only had one ring...then he would name a list of Hall of Famers.

uhhh, you couldnt breathe on Jordan too hard or it was a foul. you guys are making arguments based on sentiment because everything you are saying could easily apply to Lebron.

if you are saying Lebron couldnt average 38ppg in a season your crazy.....especially since he is learning to be a better all around scorer (moving without the ball, posting up) when Mike avg 37 that year, his team had a losing record, the next year when he avg 35, they won 50 games. Lebron avg 30ppg and 7apg on a team that won 45 games. Thats just as impressive if not more. Lebron could score more but he is a high assist guy. He is very unselfish and thats why he is a great player.

DPOY? ok, this year Lebron couldve easily gotten that over Tyson Chandler, and probably should have IMO, because Lebron can defend all positions but rarely ever gets in foul trouble, how amazing is that? He couldve been DPOY, MVP, and Finals MVP this year realistically.

Jordan could never win by himself but Lebron got closer than anyone winning by themselves in the modern era. What he did in Cleveland proved he was one of the best players of all times in terms of affecting wins. He just didnt get a title there, which I believe he could have had he stayed, but it was risky.

The dumbest argument about Lebron never being better than Jordan because Jordan is a better scorer is the dumbest because Durant may end up being the greatest pure scorer in the history of the game. Doesnt mean he will be the best, but his scoring ceiling is unlimited.

So really everyone just wants to use the ring argument. Cleveland wasnt that team. Regardless, rings dont equate the total sum. Its just what it is, an argument.

Jordan faced better competition? In terms of IQ and team play, yes.....but as far as talent and rarity in matchup ability, no way. There is no telling what a guy like Durant or Dirk even couldve done in the MJ era as far as winning championships. There are more talented players today, just not better IQ's.

I am not saying he is or will be better, because I had the privelege of seeing all of MJ's career. I am just saying the arguments you make seem impossible to argue are in fact very easy to make cases against.

MJ said it best, there is no greatest player, only the greatest of his respective era. MJ was in his era and Lebron will likely be his his own era.

Lebron could average 38 a

Lebron could average 38 a game if he WANTED to, don't forget he averaged 31.4 per game as a 20 year old, it's just not in his nature, if he was a gunner like Melo or Kobe, he would do it easily.

But far as this topic goes, Lebron does have a legit shot to be the best player ever, it's just how his body holds up, but it will be super tough, because when Jordan started losing his athleticism he found other ways to dominate, Lebron would have to do the same, not saying he couldn't but it will be tough.

I will never place LeBron for

I will never place LeBron for two reasons. Winning and losing elevates people. Jordan never lost in a Finals or Olympics. LeBron lost twice prior to this year in the Finals and his Olympic team lost to Manu in the World Championships.

So because Jordan lost in the conference finals, he is less of a loser? I don't see the logic behind that statement.

what lebron did was put him

what lebron did was put him self in the conversation with larry bird as the top small forward of all time(lebron is way more athletic and just as skilled and probably would help a terrible team like the bobcats win more games than bird. Bird had better teams for his whole career, that is the one thing that hurt lebron he was forced to play in cleveland where they couldnt get him any help. Bird was amazing though so it is now to me a toss up between the two.

all I keep hearing about is

all I keep hearing about is rings, rings, rings.....rings are like cherries on top of your dessert. some have extra cherries on their desserts....still, less cherries doesnt diminish the dessert and more doesnt make the dessert itself better.....just prettier.

this is a team sport. its unfair to say that if Lebron doesnt get 7 rings and 7 finals MVP that he wont be better than this player or that one.

all of these guys are great in their own time. Jordan was, Kobe was, Lebron is now, and Durant will be. its not really fare to compare them.

each of them have something great about them. when Lebron left Cleveland....they went from best team to worst in a year. When Mike left Chicago the first time, they still won 55 games. what do you have to say about that???

In my time, Lebron has had the greatest effect on the win/lose column out of any player. Jordan included. Thats fact.

No matter what, Jordan will always be the GOAT to a certain degree, just cant take that from him. Lebron will be a GOAT in his own right though. IMO, he is already the most talented player to ever play the game.

@220, I remember telling people the same thing, I used to say Jordan was the best before he even got a ring, now imagine how stupid that sounded? just as absurd as it sounded when people were saying the same thing about Lebron before his first one.

People getting too hyped up about Lebron.

He's nothing more than a one and done champ. As far as I am aware, the NBA doesn't give out trophies for "most talented player ever" or "best individual player ever". They give out trophies for championships and Lebron has only gotten one. Jordan got his first one in 7 yrs. Lebron in 9. Case closed.

Skip Bayless

That is one annoying dude. He argues like a stubborn 10 year old, and when Salley or S.A.S give him reasonable and good points, he just ignores them and sticks to the "so you think he's gonna win 7 championships AND 7 finals mvps??"

Skip probly doesnt even know how to play basketball, and judges only by stats and what the media says

LeBron is great and will go

LeBron is great and will go down as one of the greatest ever when it's all said and done, but people always jump the gun when great players finally win a ring. They did this with Dirk last year and said he was up there with Bird.

LeBron isn't touching MJ. He'll have a hard time just getting into the top five when it's all said and done. Look at the top five. We're talking about MJ, Kareem, Magic, Bird and Russell... Who would LeBron unseat?

I think someone made the

I think someone made the great point in another thread that LeBron's chance at getting to Jordan flew out the window when he left Cleveland.
