Alright we all know Raps fans are sick of him, he cant defend rebound etc., I not gonna put any excuses on here for him adn its best for them to part ways, but  I just honestly want to know who you would have taken knowing what you know now. below comment is almost same I mentioned on another thread, expect I added more players.

Roy- He is a good player, but his knees are blown and he may never get back to form, also he got a max contract so you guys would be complaining about overpaying a injuried player

Rondo- I doubt any one thought he would be this good, considering he went late

Rudy gay- athletic but you would have to over pay for him

Aldridge- i would have taken him, but @Koyyle reminded they bosh the same position so that wouldnt have worked out either

Milsap- drafted in second round, BIG,HUGE reach and you would never even consider him back in 2006

Foye- sadely hes always injuried, and inconsistant. I really liked him as a player but he wouldnt of been worth a number 1 pick

    J.J redick- haha yeah right

notable busts- morrison, Thomas, wiiliams, o bryant, sene, armstrong, simmons

From that draft class, my three favorite prospect were Aldridge, Foye, Adam Morrison, and my absolute favorite..Marcus Williams from uConn, sigh….2/4 aint bad, is it?

I also liked marcus williams I thought he was goin to be the next big thing when he played for nets, we just never game him enough time… then we got harris(i hated him) but know we have d will so I guess its ok

My thinking for the 2006 draft during 2006:

    1) Andrea Bargnani / Rudy Gay – I was fine with either one.  I thought one of them would be available after top 3 because other teams were not high on Bargnani and it was widely rumored that the Blazers and the Bobcats like Morrison, so one of them would fall.  That’s why I thought the Raptors should have traded down and grab something along the way (more pick? future pick? young player at the time?).  However, I was fine with BC taking Bargnani with #1, but I thought he could have done more by trading down.

    2) Tyrus Thomas – tones of potential and I thought he could develop into a good defensive SF at the time.

    3) Randy Foye – thought he would have Chauncey Billups potential and at the time, Jose Calderon was pretty bad and TJ Ford was just traded before the draft.

Note: I didn’t like the TJ Ford for CV trade at all since I didn’t like a starting PG with an injury history at 5’11.  Since CV did pretty well in his rookie year, I thought the Raptors could have fetched more.  Also, CV embraced playing for the Raptors.

I completely missed on Aldridge as he was the 2nd guy on the Texas Longhorns behind PJ Tucker and PJ Tucker was the leading rebounder at 6’5.  I also missed Brandon Roy because I didn’t like his injury history.

I was very high on Saer Sene but I would not have taken him at #10.  He makes sense in late teen.

I actually thought Rajon Rondo was a lottery pick.  I thought he could be Jason Kidd and his biggest weakness was shooting (and shooting can be fixed).  He got long arm and led in steals for 2 years with the Wildcats.  He could rebound, pass, and defense.  I was very high on him and would have taken him with like a #11~#14.

I also liked Kyle Lowry, Sergio Rodriguez and Joel Freeland in late 1st round.

PJ Tucker, Denham Brown (mostly cuz he’s Toronto native), Alexander Johnson, and Paul Millsap were on my 2nd radar.

I would have preferred the Raptors trade down and somehow lands a few late 1st picks to grab Rondo or Lowry and Sene (he ended up went #10, so no chance to grab him).

    Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

If only the Blazers knew that Sam Bowie wasn’t going to be as good as Michael Jordan.
