It was reported on ESPN LA radio that LiAngelo Ball was arrested along with two of his teammates in China for shoplifting.  Details of the arrest are unclear, but the reporters said he was questioned at the hotel and then taken at 1am local time in a police car.

Details to follow, but needless to say — "wow!"  Hopefully this is a small thing that gets resolved easily, but you really never want to mess around with crime in a communist country.  I have been there three times this year and was treated more than respectfully, but I would never think of breaching the law there as laws and customs are quite different.

    Let’s see how this develops.

What an idiotic thing to do if true. Wow, wow, wow. A stupid thing to do at home, but even dumber to do in a foreign country, especially one with a, um… iffy track record for sentencing and fair hearings. Yikes.

Hopefully he doesn’t get banned from the country.  That’d put a serious damper on his future, likely job prospects.

Would you steal a product in China if one of your brothers own a Lambo? This is not a poor man thing but more of like the psychological kleptomaniac thing.

Potentially 3-10 years in jail. Like I said earlier, stupid thing to do in a country with such a rough reputation in regards to crim and punishment, as well as a poor record in trial fairness. http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2017/11/07/report-arrested-ucla-players-in-china-could-face-prison-time/

This is why you stand for the national anthem, anyone who thinks its oppressiv e here go to a community country and break a law.  and hes from a state that wants to secede now theyre gonna be praying the government can negotiate a deal cuz the conviction rate in Chiba is  99%.

What does standing for a song written by a racist who owned slaves have to do with a dumb kid stealing in a foreign country?

Not that this situation has anything to do with standing for the national anthem, but just because things are worse in other countries doesn’t mean you can’t ask more of your country. Bad is bad, what’s going on elsewhere doesn’t justify it.
