jjonzParticipantHistory does not bode well for teams that have to keep going to the lottery to build their team. The last team to Win with their young core were the Lakers in the Early 80’s ( they drafted JWorthy 1st in 82/BScott 4th in 83) but they already had veterans on that team that helped balance out the youth that they had accumulated through the draft. In the 90’s the Hornets started their franchise with 3 top 5 picks 90 KGill/91 L.Johnson/& then in 92 AMourning. The Mavs had the same situation with JKidd/JJackson/JMashburn & Toni Braxton if you believe the "Sources". The Bulls in the Early part of the decade had i believe 6 Top 5 draft picks in their rebuilding process. Currently the Thunder have 4 Top 5 picks on their team. The Wizards have 1, but they traded the 6th pick in the 2009 draft (who could have been SCurry or Derozan) The Kings have 2 Top 5 picks and looking @ their horrendeous 2nd half schedule they will be picking 1-3 in this draft, how should they draft?. Should they look to trade for a Veteran Somewhere? Or keep the pick

HitsterParticipantHaving traded away the chance to maybe draft Rubio in 2009, the Wizards got lucky with John Wall last year. Having moved as many big contracts as they could, I’d guess that they have to draft this year.
Atlanta had 3 top 5 picks in 2005 to 2007, the T-Wolves seem to have been in the top 8 at least since 2006 so to break the cycle of high picks can often be hard.

BKKnicksfanParticipantBoth those picks the Lakers used were picked added from Trades.
The Worthy pick was a swap with Cleveland, coin flip I believe
Byron Scott wasn’t picked by LAL, But LAC

WizardofOzParticipantI think it depends. If it’s a team like LAC, Kings, or T-Wolves, I think that they should trade the pick for the right deal. When you rebuild, you start off young, but you don’t win young, and these teams have been rebuilding for years. If they want to start winning, they can’t be trying to add more projects and youth and need to start adding some veterans to the roster.
But teams like Washington, Detroit, New Jersey, and Cleveland need to keep their picks. Washington just started their rebuild, and they have a young roster that’s still developing. They need to add another lotto pick to their core, and they can’t make the mistake of trading their top 5 pick like they did last season. Detroit needs to start a full rebuild and get rid of veterans like Prince and Hamilton. They need more picks. The Nets have some young talent, but are not ready to compete and need another lotto pick. The Cavs just need as much talent as they can get.

KayjayParticipantI thought you meant in the future lol. Sorry about that. And let us remember the Thunder look incredible right now. And they got just about every member of their starting five from the draft. Things take time.

Lotto StudParticipant"JKidd/JJackson/JMashburn & Toni Braxton"
Aint no fun unless your teammates get some. I really don’t know much about that situation, because I was too young to remember although I heard about it later on. Could you care to shed some light on the situation if you know about it?

jjonzParticipantJKidd was going out with her/ then she dumped him and started dating JJackson. So i guess JKidd got mad & would’nt pass JJackson the ball, things got heated on the team & in the locker room, They traded Kidd to Suns I believe, can’t remember what happened to JJackson. But with time to jell & the right Offensive system they could have been great, but ohh well.
