I remember watching this video released 10 days before the 2012 draft. He couldn’t hit two elbow jumpers in a row for 4 minutes. I know he was tired at the end of a workout, but I feel like this was a warning sign that was ignored.

I remember when USC quarterback Matt Sanchez was at his NBA Combine, his throws looked sloppy and inaccurate, but all the commentators were just enthralled with how good his accuracy was. It’s like they weren’t even watching.

I suspect there’s a lot of evidence of future pro struggles that gets ignored in pre-draft workouts based on player reputation. And while you never want to dismiss a prospect based on one bad workout, it can’t hurt to keep your eyes wide open either.

You do realize that Austin Rivers played outstanding in this years playoffs.  You probably should have mentioned something like this before he went to the Clippers and played really good in the season and playoffs.

"really good", like top 40 in a re-draft? Like, might get to stay in the league next year?

      62% career FT shooter

      58% in LAC regular season

      63% FT in playoffs

      32.6% career from 3.

31% from 3 in LAC regular season

37% from 3 in playoffs, just enough to get him re-signed by his daddy.

in throwing out career numbers? We all know he struggled early the first couple years. What he was trying to say way it looks like he has turned a corner in his game/looking confortable on the floor ect. So his numbers going forward next year should be much better than his career averages.

           62% career FT shooter.

63% FT shooter when he was finally comfortable on the floor in the playoffs.

Things are moving in the right direction.

Rivers is the perfect example of the danger in drafting a combo guard in the lottery based on the presumption that they will learn how to shoot.

If Mudiay turns into a rich man’s Rivers, he won’t be worth a top 5, or even top 20 pick. And that 57% FT shooting will be noted as having been clear evidence of future mediocrity.

Thanks. I was O-2, just like a Rivers’ trip to the line.

So you rant for a while about one player just to prove your point that Mudiay will be terrible. Nice!
