Tim49461ParticipantI was spending some time looking over next year’s class and noticed something about Austin Rivers and his NBA potential.
Idk if most of you guys paid attention to the 07 HS class but there was one player that played eerily similiar to Rivers. He showed the same Unlimited Range, Explosiveness, Effectiveness Breaking Down His Defenders.
I’m talking about Eric Gordon. The two are playing one in the same. If you remember Eric would pull it the second he crossed half court. He could throw down explosive dunks. And always found a way to get past his defender. Now Eric was a little bit stronger but both are 6’4" and the same skill set.
I may be wrong but i believe his Potential is a Eric Gordon clone.
Knowing what you are getting in him if it pans out. Does his stock rise or fall in this upcoming draft. He is currently slated at #11.

kanyedabestParticipantI like Gordon better as an nba player… he’s way stronger( built like a linebacker ) and he is more explosive then rivers imo

C_MoneyParticipantGordon has more strength to his game, especially on drives to the hoop. I think Rivers ceiling is a cross between Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis

TimbosliceParticipantI like the Gordon comparison, I mentioned this in a thread a while back. Gordon may be stronger but we’re nitpicking, they both have the same skill set and are both athletic but rivers is still in high school, he’ll add some strength.

Im Your FatherParticipantI like the comparison. It isn’t perfect: Gordon is obviously stronger, and I think Rivers has a little more shake to his game, but I think their styles are similar.
On a side note, Rivers just measured out at 6’5 in shoes and weights 203 lbs.

iguapops420ParticipantWhover said a cross between Curry and MOnta is dead on. Monta’s athleticism, scorefirst and second attitude with fearless driving ability mixed with a mean jumpshot like Curry(though not nearly as money).

Johnny ChillRight now I would say he is top 10 for next year and as high as 5.
He would be the #1 SG in 2012 draft.
It depends on team needs, other players coming out and how well he does at Duke.

Chilbert arenasParticipantGordon is much much stronger, and a little more of a pure shooter and defensively coming out while Rivers is taller. That being said I still can see the comparison because at one point both players were foolishly labeled as point guards which neither are. Rivers will become much better on the defensive end while going to Duke and I think he could lead the team in scoring. But he’s going to have to work on his shot selection but he’s a smart kid and will figure it out.

r377ParticipantI am not buying all the hype about rivers. I think he will be a solid nba players, just not an all star.
I think he will lucky to go 6-10 in the draft

Tim49461ParticipantReally? the only thing i see that separates them is Gordon is stronger. You must not have watched him in highschool if you are saying not at all

Mr. BasketballParticipantI think he’s more like OJ Mayo. He’s the most heralded player of the class coming out of high school yet isn’t the #1 ranked just like him. He is supposed to be a PG like Mayo but both are more of SG’s. He has a very similar body (same height, 2 pounds different). He is flashy like mayo was in high school. Not like Eric Gordon because they have completely different bodies – one is very big and strong while the other is not but is quicker. Also, rivers is a way better dribbler.
