Having watched a lot of Ben Simmons play on various teams, I would like to share my tips on how to get the perfect lineup to suit his strengths. Pro Scouts in particular will be interested to report the information back to their NBA team’s Executives

Spoiler Alert: LSU is on the right track.

    1) Simmons is the biggest matchup nightmare when he plays PF. Can guard on the perimeter or bang inside with ease. When he gets defensive rebounds, he runs…fast. He should play 35mpg.

    2) A Rim Protector. Post game not reqd. Simmons isnt a rim protector. Think a Birdman Clone. Must be athletic and long to stop Isaac Humphries types from owning the interior.

    3) Three Shoot-first wing rotation than run run run. Cherry picking is going to be a good play for LSU. Antonio Blakeney and Brandon Sampson are going to get buckets. Simmons will yell at them if they DONT take lots of shots.

    4) A Steady unspectacular PG that can hit open 3’s at low volume and hound in a full court press. Gives Simmons 15mpg break from the perimeter to focus on his array of hooks, floaters and fakes in the paint. Can score with either hand as good as anyone.

My prediction is that LSU are the favourites ahead of Kentucky to win the SEC. Without doubt, this is the must-watch matchup of the season.

Feel free to ask questions on any of these points and I’ll gladly go into more detail.

If I’m a GM I would’nt want simmons to be my PF, I’ll put him at SF, then I could get a Center with touch on midrange with a good shot blocking ability and great athlete t run the floor, my power forward could hit 3 pt shot regularly and can rebound the best of them, think Ryan anderson with reggie evans rebounding. then simmons at SF. My sg should be a 3pt shooter and run and jump athlete, think Ben Mclemore with defense. and point guard, since simmons will be the main ball handler my point guard can shoot 3pt shots with high efficiency. they don’t need to be a great ball handler. I just want a big point guard that can defend and shoot threes. If Simmons can drive the lane, he can dish out to these 4 teammates. also, the center and power forward wil not clog the lane for simmons to drive since they can hit open jumpshots, or quick pick and roll and can roll to the basket.

You pretty much describe the Celtics, who own the Nets pick.

I’m an Aussie and love Isaac Humphries, and have all the confidence in the world that he’ll tear up the college game- but in the way Nick Collison tore up the college game, I think he will be a very good role player at an NBA player not this freak of nature you are hyping him up to be. I’ve seen him play for many years as I group up in a similar area to him and would see his games before/after mine at tournaments etc.

On to the topic of Ben, you haven’t really pointed out anything that isn’t obvious, but I mean, good on you? Didn’t say anything wrong but not sure why you seem to think these ideas are unique to yourself

Theres a 50% chance he ends up at Lakers or Celtics…cos the Nets figure to really stink this season too.

Err…that Boston Nets deal looks pretty one sided in hindsight.

I’d use him like a young Lebron. Solid defensive team around him with tons of shooting. Shoot first PG that can bring the ball up to Simmons then allow him to operate in the halfcourt.

    OP here.

I’ve received numerous memos from Pro Scouts via other mediums, so I would like to address them so that timely and accurate information can be disseminated back to NBA Executives.

Question 1) How will Ben Simmons lack of length affect his ability to score in traffic – Jervis Goldberg (Scout from LA)

Answer) Thanks Jervis, this will not be an issue as he has a strong ability to score with both hands in a variety of ways. Thus evading longer defenders.

Question 2) How would he fit into a team like the Pistons, as they are a real chance to win the lottery – Ayesha Hoodrabbit (Pistons Fan)

Answer) Simmons might indeed be forced to play out his rookie contract in Detroit. But during this time he will help Detroit gain some respectability back in the city which is traditionally known for unsavoury behaviour.

Question 3) Is Simmons vs Lebron in the 2020 NBA finals going to a "Passing of the Torch" Moment that will make the NBA billions? – Creator of Rival Draft Website

Answer) Honestly…hard to say at this stage.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll try answer more of your queries at a later date.

He’d fit really nicely in most any lineup.
