basically i think they should trade away Mike Bibby and get Josh Smith to work on his jump shot in the off season because he is an explosive player but with the jump shot they should be pretty hype

Find themselves a penetrating point guard, and a defensive center. Horford is way undersized. They have pieces to trade. Marvin Williams, Bibby, Horford. They need an established superstar and they have pieces to get them.

He does not brake down defenses to create open shots he shoots. He is good but not a creator. They work to hard to score. They need better D to get turnovers so they can get out and run.

I’ve never been a Hawks fan, but I expected a lot more from them this postseason. I thought they should have walked over Miami, but they did’nt and now they are not even putting up a fight against Cleavland. I think they need to sign a new pg. Bibby is a free agent so I doubt they do a sign and trade like everyone else is suggesting on here. They should let him go and go after a young pg who can defend and penetrate. They also need a big man. Josh Smith is not very good defensively and Zaza should be a backup. Adding an athletic and defense orriented pg and center should be their priorities.

Agreed that there are glaring holes at the 1 and 5 spots for next year’s team, but there just not that many options for the Hawks if they choose to let Bibby walk. Right now, Ray Felton seems like a solid option but he is a restricted FA, and it will cost the Hawks more to sign him than Bibby. However, seeing the Cavs guards use and abuse Bibby to score at will makes any option over Bibby next year an upgrade.

As for the 5, the Hawks tried to trade for C. Kaman, and the ownership group for the Hawks rejected the trade…here lies the problem. If the ownership group is more worried about losing money, than trying to figure out ways to bring wins, which always leads to making money, then the Hawks will be stuck in that middle of the NBA tier, which will prove to be a disaster in the coming years. Let’s hope this off-season, the try to stir up those trade discussions with the Clippers for Kaman or even Camby, seeing as they seem to be the only team with 3 centers on their 09-10 roster.

As for who they should draft, it seems the Hawks need immediate depth, eliminating the ideas of BJ Mullens, Austin Daye, Derrick Brown, or Jrue Holiday. Also, the Hawks need someone who will accept RP minutes for their first couple of years, and possible the rest of their career. Sam Young seems to fit this mold the best. If the Hawks luck out on Eric Maynor or Jonny Flynn then they should jump at the opportunity, but reading reports that these two are working their way up are not good signs for the Hawks. In the second round, watch for a guy like Josh Heytfelt to be a realistic possibility to bolster that Hawks front line depth.

they need to go back in time and pass up marvin williams for chris paul or deron williams. but seriously they need to hope ty lawson falls to them and pick him up. he would be right at home with all those athletes around him. then maybe trade for a real center if one is available. they can deal marvin williams because he doesn’t bring much to the table for that team. becuase pretending al horford, josh smith, and zaza pachulia are the answer for bigs is not a good idea. they need a big body type player. al horford will be a good starting pf. and zaza is a good backup center/pf. but j smith needs to get a j and play full time sf. imagine a starting lineup of: ty lawson, joe johnson, josh smith, al horford, and any real center. with a bench of flip murray, maurice evans. its a fresh start that they need. bibby is not the answer.
