Assault case against Australian IPL cricketer Luke Pomersbach dropped
An Indian court has ordered that charges of molestation and assault against Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach be dropped, after the complainants wanted to withdraw the case.
The Australian cricketer, who played for RCB in the IPL, was arrested on May 18 after Hamid alleged that he had molested her in a five-star hotel here and beat up her friend.
Sahil Peerzada ,had earlier told Indian media that Pomersbach had “tagged along” with her and her Mumbai-based fiance and had grabbed her while they drank together in a hotel room in New Delhi.
When her fiance asked Pomersbach to leave her alone, the player “turned around and started hitting him”, she had alleged.
The court rejected the Delhi government's argument that the FIR should not be quashed keeping in view the gravity and seriousness of the offence.
The three had made the plea jointly, terming the incident leading to registration of the FIR as "unfortunate" and saying that they have amicably settled their dispute and "wish to end it."
