tyrekeevansParticipantDemarcus Cousins is a such an immautre player…thats what he gets for doing a stupid sign!!
Who does that in the nba, Why would he do that of a missed freethrow..as much as i like the kings. Thats what they get for doing that dumb sign. That one moment just Gave him a FINE/AND LOST THE STARTING SPOT.
I really like what Westphal did..Yes the kings need help but not showing like an inmature team!!

llperezwhat he did was stupid, but i dont think it was that big a deal. Reggie miller gave the choke sign before. Heck, i remember sorry role player greg foster stood in front of the lakers entire bench during a playoff game between the lakers and jazz and gave the throat slashing gesture. What demarcus did didnt really seem fine worthy to me. More like just a talking to.

omphalosParticipantI’m sure if the Kings had managed to hold on and win that game Cousins wouldn’t be in anywhere near as much trouble.

llpereztheres a thread with a link here on the first page. But reggie williams was shooting a ft late in the game with the warriors down 5 and cousins jokingly put his hand around his throat after a miss and gave a little choke sign. Really not a huge deal if you ask me.

butidonthavemoneyDeMarcus Cousins is a jackass. It should have been a technical foul. That would have been beautiful poetic justice.
The funny thing is that Cousins had a horrible game, and missed the box-out that ended up costing the Kings the game. Reggie Miller made the same gesture, but the situation was 100% different. I’d say the fine/benching was just.

GrandmamaParticipantI’m sorry but Cousins is a b1tch, I’m just wondering where all his nut huggers are? The ones thinking he was the most "pro ready", that he would average 18 and 10, that he had great post moves and would score with ease. LMAO, where ya at kids? I might have to bump some pre-season Cousin’s nut hugging threads.

Mr. 19134ParticipantCousins is a beast…He dropped to give for correctly reasons, immaturity, weight, and he gets in foul trouble. Once he gets use to the speed of the game he wont be getting into foul trouble thats why he don’t play 30 minutes consistently. Compared to the rest of the class he is having a very good year and is only getting better.

mj23mj23besteverParticipanthe is putting up good rookie numbers around 12 and 8 which is respectable for a rook but this immature move plus hes already been kicked out of practice for being a mouth piece

JoeWolf1I think it’s funny more than anything. Reggie Williams should be the one laughing, the Warriors won that game and the Kings have 5 wins. When you’re Reggie Miller killing in a meaningful game and you throw the chock sign is a lot different than a rookie doing it in a battle of teams with less than 10 wins a piece in late December. It’s nothing to get all up and arms about, just makes the rook look like an idiot. IMO

Counting StarsParticipantLet’s not get too surprised. The Kings have already had to hire a baby sitter for Cousins – his high school coach.
And when Reggie Miller was doing the choke sign it was more for Spike Lee’s benefit than the other team.

BasketBalAllanParticipantThe reasons it has turned into a big deal is because:
1. The Kings did end up losing in the end.
2. Westphal made a big deal out of it.
3. Some people who really just do not like Cousins are using this as an excuse to complain when the only time they have really watched him as of late is through youtube clips.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantWestphal made a big deal about it because they lost, and because they are the worst team in the league. This is the right call. It shouldn’t be the case the coaches need to drill it into people’s heads that losing the way the Kings are should be humbling, but in this case it is. If a player wants to have fun and taunt an opponent, don’t blow the big lead and play like garbage.

BasketBalAllanParticipantIt’s not a big deal at all IMO. He was tossed out of practice because he had an argument about what he and the team should be doing so that they could win; bottom line is that Cousins does not like losing. He is not some idiot who complains about how many minutes he is getting or that they should feed him the ball every time. He does not get into argument with his teammates. Almost every aspect of his game that people have been complaining about since day one Cousins has put in a lot of work to try and improve, which is noticeable if you actually watch him play outside of the news. He has admitted that some of the things he has done so far were wrong and that what he received was just. What happened in the Warriors game was simply that he was happy. No one thought the Warriors were going to get fouled on two consecutive three point attempts, or that they would be fouled again in the post, or that they would get the ball back and hit a desperation three to send it into overtime. Cousins was just happy that they were finally going to win a game. Sure it was a stupid thing to do and it made him look immature, but players do worse to each other in games and nothing ever ends up happening about it. This is just an overreaction from people who are either mad the Kings lost or misunderstand his actions as arrogant or malevolent.

But they lost, and that fact matters in how he acted.

BasketBalAllanParticipantI am not trying to argue that what he did was perfectly fine and should repeat it next game. Just that some are overreacting to what happened by calling him a b1tch and a jackass just because he made a gesture after an opponent missed a key free-throw for his team. Cousins wears his emotions on his sleeve and people mistake that for being unstable. Sure he is immature and should not have done that, but he did and accepted the consequences of looking like an idiot and everyone coming down hard on him. Also, I was saying that Cousins thought they were going to win, it is not everyday a team does what GS managed to do in the last 30 seconds of the game.0 - Posted on: Thu, 12/23/2010 - 8:39am #464489

JNixonParticipantIt wasn’t exactly classy, but he did deserved to be disciplined. Westphal has his own way of disciplining guys just like any other coach, so I don’t have a problem with it. Cousins isn’t above being punished.

balla619ParticipantTypical Cousins, he’s really immature but still Minnesota shouldn’t have passed on him.
