So the Lakers and Jazz are in a battle for the 8th spot. The Lakers currently are 1/2 game up for the 8th spot at 41-37. The Jazz are 41-38 and own the tie breaker. Who gets in? Let's look at the remaining schedules for both teams.
vs Golden State on 04/12
vs San Antonio on 04/14
vs Houston on 04/17
vs Minnesota 04/12
@ Minnesota 04/15
@ Memphis 04/17
IF I had to predict, I think the Jazz should at least go 2-1. I think they'll beat the T-Wolves both games and lose to the Grizzlies. I think the Jazz finish 43-39, which means the Lakers need to go at least 3-1 in their final four games to get in the playoffs. The Lakers clearly have the tougher schedule. Assuming none of the teams rest their starters, can the Lakers do it? How do you predict they'll finish their last four games?
I think San Antonio will br resting some starters by then.
They better hope the Spurs rest their starters.
I don't even think the game vs the Blazers tonight is in the bag. The Blazers have struggled something serious, but the Lakers are on the second night of a back to back and they almost never play well in Portland.
It took Kobe being superman just to beat the Hornets last night. I don't think any of these games are a guaranteed win for them.
I don't think the Lakers get in.
The Blazers may be starting 4 rookies tonight with LaMarcus Aldridge. Wes, Nic and J.J may miss the game with injuries so if that happens I believe the losing streak will continue.
"they almost never play well in Portland."
lost 18 of the last 22 in Portland.
Someway somehow I don't see the NBA not letting the lakers in. Their such a big draw and there is so much money on the line. I mean who really wants to see a spurs vs jazz series or thunder vs jazz. I think they will start to get some calls go their way and the playoffs are attainable.
But realistically unless Utah just tanks for some odd reason against the twolves I also believe the lake show won't get in
David Stern is going to call in the top refs from the WWE for the Lakers last games of the year.
As of right now San Antonio sits in first place right now in the Western Conference, so they would be the team that has to play the 8th seed. So maybe San Antonio plays all their starters against the Lakers in regular season so they don't have to play them in playoffs, because the Lakers could be a very dangerous team. I think it would be smart of Pop not to rest them against the Lakers if they are looking at trying to keep the top seed (Thunder are only half a game behind).
I dont see the spurs tipping their hand to the Lakers a week before the playoffs. Also tn is going to be tough as said above. Lakers blazers is a rivalry no doubt. Portland HATES the Lakers. ANNNDD the lakers play horrible on back to backs. Im rooting for the lakers but their remaining games compared to the jazz is waaay improbable.
Lets see if kobe can have another big game in Portland when it matters. Dwight needs to be Shaq tn
