Just watch this, there are all strengths and weaknesses but still, when you see a talent and upside like this how in the world he is not lottery pick on so much anticipated as a weak WEAK draft??

I think once all the players finalize whether they are staying in the draft or returning, plus with the combine; he will rise for sure. I have always seen him as lottery talent. All it takes is for one team to fall in love with you. You saw how Dion Waiters rised last year. I remember years ago in the 2009 draft, Tyreke Evans was either late first/ early second round projected pick on this sites mock at one point. He ended up going fourth. I still think it’s too early to think some of these guys are actually going to get drafted where sites have them projected at the moment.

yeaah..also the same can be said about Mr.Westbroo back in 2008 ..

he was good and after final four run had some hypes, but still wasn’t top10 pick if I’m not mistaken..
and the workouts made Sonics/Thunder beleive he was better prospect than sensational freshmen Eric Gordon and Jerryd Bayless

I also forgot Brandon Jennings was projected to go 22nd to Portland on this sites mock. Some thought second round. He ended up going tenth. He wasn’t even at the draft when they called his name lol. So like I said, it’s too early to tell. I honestly will be shocked if he doesn’t go lottery

I agree, far as potential goes Goodwin is right up there with anybody in the draft, people aren’t as high on Goodwin because he makes alot of bad decisions and plays out of control alot…….He’s 18…..won’t be 19 until August…….teach him the game, get him in the weight room, and I bet by the time he’s 23-24 years old you will have you a big time player on your hand.

I still believe after workouts he will rise and can get as high as late lottery. You usually never find guys with his kind of upside in the late first round/second round unless they are sleepers.

This isn’t the first case of somebody who is ubber talented and get projected low. There’s enough talent without Goodwin in the NBA, I’d rather have a hardworker in that position than somebody who’ll throw it away like the aforementioned Goodwin. Playoff teams shouldn’t risk a definite contract and (more importantly) a roster spot on this guy, he deserves to be on the fence on the basis of a second round contract.

It’s not about the talent but it’s how he’d play off the ball and where he can contribute elsewhere on an NBA level. He’s shown through a full season, he’s a subpar shooter (.266 3P% & .637 FT%), a woeful playmaker (3.1TO-2.7APG) tto top it off; an average defender who can get into foul trouble under stress (2.9PF), I don’t get the Tyreke and Westbrook comparisons either this is a shooting guard who can’t shoot and shyed away from becoming a leader on a Kentucky team that really needed one.

also I heard something like he is Tyreke w/o ball-handling and that’s nothing good..

but Archie’s handles are OK, and I believe the difference of Archie’s advantage in athleticism is actually bigger

Probably because production counts for something…Goodwin wasn’t very productive this year. He is athletic, yes, he has skill, but he doesn’t really know HOW to play the game at this point. I like him going to someone like Chicago, but its easy to see why he isn’t a lottery pick.

I caught a game early in the year in which Kentucky blew the game open in the last 10 minutes or so, and I was amazed at the transition athletic ability of Archie Goodwin. At the time, he was playing point and looking pretty good against a far inferior team. As the year wore on, I was gradually disappointed every new game I saw him.

There are lots of 6’4” or 6’5” guys who are extremely athletic who don’t have a head for the game. On all levels of basketball, a guy like Goodwin isn’t that special in the grand scheme of things. If he had a higher IQ or a better shot, then yes, he’d warrant a lottery pick, but he’s a guard who you have to teach how to be a guard to play at the NBA level.

I think it’s a little different than a big man who’s size allows him to rebounds and block shots in the meantime until he becomes more accomodated, but when you have the ball in your hands are required to hit open shots and make good decisions on the wing, the learning curve is much sharper.

Goodwin is still young, and coming out may have been good because he hasn’t had another year to analyze. A team in the late 1st who is a playoff regular could afford to draft him, let him play in the D-League and hope he’s ready for some minutes by year two. Or a team like Minnesota at 25 could probably find some minutes right away, because they’re weak at the two, but keep him on a short leash. I’m not a unabashed Goodwin believer, but it’s too early to doom his career. He could be something, but I do think there is a legit chance he is a guy that gets lost in the shuffle, still a guy to give a good look in the 25-35 range.
