In his first steps toward playing professionally overseas, Princeton Day senior Aquille Carr signed with an agent and accepted an invitation to play in June’s Adidas Eurocamp in Italy, according to Princeton Day Coach Van Whitfield.

The 5-foot-7 guard will be represented by Johnny Foster, the founder and president of Capital Sports LLC based in Charlotte.

Foster will help Carr move closer to finding a professional team when the electrifying point guard competes in next month’s Adidas Eurocamp. Held in Treviso, Italy on June 8-10, the showcase event is the lone NBA-sanctioned pre-draft camp outside of the U.S. and brings the top overseas talent together with NBA and international coaches.

Whitfield said Carr, who will head to Italy on June 6, is the only American player to earn an invite to the camp.

“It’s a unique opportunity for Aquille because he’s going at the urging of several NBA teams who want to see him up close after not getting a chance to see him play this year,” Whitfield said. “He’ll most likely be playing in the Euro League next year and there are several teams who are interested to see how he fares against other international competition his age.”

Known as the “Crimestopper,” Carr averaged an area-best 28.4 points per game for Princeton Day this past season.

I'm trying to figure out why

I'm trying to figure out why this kid deserves mentioning. It can't be to discuss his NBA prospects since he has none. Does he have a new mixtape out?

From my perspective, he is

From my perspective, he is worth following because he is taking the path less traveled. Ever since the word came out that he will try to play professionally overseas, I have been wondering what the market would be for a tiny guard coming straight out of high school. A lot of really accomplished college guards start out in far from glamorous situations throughout Europe. It is a paycheck, and zero shame to it, but they start towards the bottom of the pro ladder and work their way up. It does not seem realistic to assume Carr would sign immediately with a Euroleague team. Obviously, we still do not know where he will sign, but it is interesting. At very least, he has good enough representation to get him out there to be seen.
