Any chance Curry is better than Rubio
why not? i think any pg in the projected top 7 pg could be better than him. the thing with rubio is his potential to be a special pg for many years, while the other guys have lower ceilings in terms of potential. so curry, jennings, flynn, lawson, and holiday could have better careers but if they all fulfill their potential, rubio is the best.
No way is curry a back up. He averaged 7 assist with a team with no weapons beside him. He is athletic and a deadly shooter. He might back up his 1st year after that its his to run. Who is to say what another players ceiling is. I disagree his is higher than these other points.
Theres certainly a chance Curry ends up better. I think he's a safer choice because theres still a chance Rubio isnt as good as we all think and you know what youre getting with Curry. Hes a much better shooter and more athletic than Rubio but he doesnt have the vision and craftiness that makes Rubio so good. I tihnk the 7 assists last season is more representative of how he had the ball in his hands all the times, not necessarily that hes a great passer. I think in the right system he could be really good. Also the fact that he measured a legit 6'3 means he will definitely play some SG in the NBA, which will help him, especially in his rookie season.
u couldnt have seen davidson play talking like that
he had the ball all the time becuz he's the point guard
thats obvious
the assist came from him being doubled and tripled all the time
leaving his teammates open for easy buckets
but if he wasnt doubled and tripled 1 on 1 =curry scoring 40+
shoulda watched a few games before making this ridiculous comment
Exactly what I was thinking about the number of assists he had..he had to score and make play nearly everytime they had the ball. He is also 6'3" which is more than decent size for a pg. But I think he will be better than Rubio, but not better than Jonny Flynn and Brandon Jennings when its all said and done
Curry is a gonna be a very good pro. Maybe not HOF talent but definite contributer, and he can run the show. In the right system he can average probably 18-23ppg and 6-8ast...Rubio is still too unproven to me, I haven't seen enough of him at all, but I think all the hype about him is overblown-also I think he's being a baby about his potential playing situation, the NBA definitely doesn't need a prima dona who thinks they can come in and call all the shots...Curry has been on the move upwards, and that trend will continue as teams see him play
I would definitely pick Curry over Rubio if I was trying to assemble a championship team... I think that Curry is a very solid passer, with very solid vision... Maybe Rubio is a 'better' passer because of his 'craftiness' but to me that just means that he tries to make the incredible pass too much and his TOs are high because of that... I'd like to see Curry paired with either Brandon Roy or Russell Westbrook because then he could play off the ball but still guard 1s.
I think the only reason to pick Rubio is to put fans in the seats... he plays an exciting brand of basketball. But, exciting doesn't win championships. How many has Steve Nash won? he's as crafty and as good of a passer as Rubio AND he can shoot like Curry and he still doesn't have a championship. Rubio has a long way to go before I think he's a championship PG. I'd take Curry and his shooting and his no-looming-buy-out-i-will-definitely-be-in-the-NBA-next-season status.
Curry will be a point guard in the NBA. He proved last year that he has the ball handling ability, passing ability & most importantly... court vision/court sense to play point guard in the NBA. There are a lot of point guards in the NBA right now who's court vision isn't as good as his.
He'll be able to play both guard spots because he can play both on & off the ball. My concern isn't on the offensive end... It's on the defensive end. He's 6' 3", but has short arms which could limit him defensively in the NBA. He sort of reminds me of Jared Bayless, in regard to his height & arm length.
If Curry gets drafted to New York, he'll have a chance to win ROY. If Rubio goes before Sacramento's pick, I wouldn't be surprised if they take Curry.
Looks like SPEEDY CLAXTON another NY gaurd who has done okay. See Johnyy as a starter for a couple than tail back into a telfair type position solid pick but the draft is so damn weak.
Rubio will be a bust... had there not been so much hype he would've been selected in the late first round.
No players ever live up to the hype... only Lebron. This is a consequence of the herd mentality whereby everyone says he is the next (add name here) and people jump on the wagon.
I saw the Olympics and he didn't do anything special. People talk about him just because he is a good player for his age. Granted every young player has potential, but a top 5 pick? Come on.
Curry dominated when he was at Davidson... dominated! It's not just about potential with Curry, but the fact that he is a great shooter and facilitator. Davidson is a D-1 school with less than 2,000 students and other big-name schools were unable to stop him.
but what makes you think rubio has better potential.....hes young so ill give you that..he averaged 5ast a game but lead spain in turnovers..he faced better comp on some nights but on most nights he faced midmajor competition..hes taller so ill give you that..hes a ok defender but not good when checking athletic quick pgs..he has a hard time finishings and not a very good shooter..so as far as physical tools like height/age he has more potenial...and mb6297 i agree with you he didnt do anything special so it baffles me when i see peopel post that he killed chris paul or d will..its obvious that they were watching a different game...he had 6pts ( four of which were free throws) 3ast 5 reb 3 turnovers and 2 steals in 29minutes...24 min paul had 13pts 5 ast 3 stl 1trn over deron had 7 1 ast in 16min (4min against rubio) and they lost
finally another person who as actually seen rubio play..yes he does have potenial ( like most young players who are good) but hes not ready to step in and dominate or even start....i think he might have mor epotenial but wont be a better player then curry
"Ricky is the most ready in this draft and has more potential."
i hope you were joking... most ready in this draft? ricky still can not guard an NBA PG in the NBA... , not strong enough, not quick enough... and he is not an NBA shooter yet. give him a year or two and he might be the best in the league but i just don't think he's ready to be a great PG yet.
but now that i think about it, i don't know who i think is the most NBA ready... I'd probably say Curry.

I like steph Curry as the best point guard in this draft. Is there anyway he could be better than Rubio when it is all said and done?
