I was thinking about this after reading some of the posts in the other thread. a lot of Magic fans seem to be fed up with dwight and wants him gone. on top of that, they also dont want him dealt to the nets just so that he wont be going where he wants to go. so i was thinking, where could Dwight be traded to even though that team knows he wont be resigning any extension and could leave them for nothing. to make things harder, im still factoring that Hedu and his deal must be attached to all Dwight deals. kudos if you can make it Dwight-Turk-J-Rich all gone.

i’d love to hear the different trade ideas their team can deal for Dwight given the circumstance that Orlando might consider. Some that have played in my head were:

    Orlando deals:

    Dwight and Hedu

    Minny deals:

Derrick Williams(young talent with lots of potential)

    Darko(expiring)

Luke Ridnour(salary filler/replacement PG for Jameer)

Martell Webster(expring if they excercise their team option in his contract)

    ______________________________________________________________________

if orlando just wants to clear salary, then they can ask the wolves to replace ridnour with brad miller’s who i think is contemplating retirement and has a team option on his deal for the up-comming season. the player i think orlando would be wanting in the deal is Pekovic. he could be the difference wheather this deal goes down or not. but with minny knowing they wont be getting dwight without an extension, dont think they’ll part with the old school center.

This trade is terrible. Yes, you get expiring contracts but what’s the chances that they lure big name players there to spend that money on? zero to none. Second, where are the draft picks? Orlando is going to have to build their team through the draft ala OKC and/or how Indiana built their team. Third, Derrick Williams isn’t someone who you can build a team around. He’s still a tweener. He’s the 3rd or 4th best player on a championship team, MAYBE!

They key for Orlando is to get draft picks and building blocks. They’ll be clearing lots of space getting rid of Howard alone.

Derick Williams was the 7th man on a team that didnt make the playoffs not nearly the 3rd or 4th best player on a championship team.

but Golden State isn’t bad. For some dumb a$$ reason they want him and could give Barnes and Klay Thompson and Bogut. They are moving to San Fran in a year or 2. I would keep Klay and give Curry because I think Klay is better, but thats just me.

ATL is a good spot because Horford is the best single player that has come up in D12 talks that the Magic would get back.

I wouldnt trade him to the Nets because thats the only way he can get there because they would have the space to sign him next summer.

last that i heared was that Lacob said that they’re not dealing for Dwight without a guaranteed extension since they have Bogut who they regard as a top 3 offensive center in the league.

the atlanta deal would be very intriguing if they are willing to take in Hedu as well. with a bunch of expirings comming from brooklyn in the deal for Joe Johnson, they can enter the 2013 off-season with only Jenkins, their pick next year’s draft and Hedu under contract.

dealing him to cleveland would be very interesting. if howard gets dealt there and bolts, the cavs would have lost two all nba players in 3 years through free agency. wonder if they will be burning his jersey as well as having the owner wright up another hate letter. i really wonder who would voluntarilly want to play for an owner such as that.

If Dwight Howard doesn’t resign for your team, then a team who is in WIN NOW mode could take a risk.  Some team who rolls the dice and tries to win it all next year, then deals with the consequences after that.

I think one team who might take that chance is the LA Clippers.  Adding Dwight Howard to the Chris Paul and Blake Griffin core sounds great.  They have a few other assets to give up so I think with those Big Three they would be a legit title contender next year.  Then you still have Lamar Odom as a high level role player plus whoever they sign/resign.

    Here is the breakdown:

Orlando wants to trade Dwight Howard so they can actually get something for him.  They would also like to get rid of Hedo’s contract.  He makes a ton of money, and has no real value on a middling team or a rebuilding one.  But, he would be a pretty good guy to have on a contender as a fourth or fifth option type.

I think Orlando can trade both of those guys to the Clippers and get DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe, Caron Butler, and other pieces back.  The Clippers lose some talent but they keep the Blake-Paul core.  They now have the best Big Three out west along with two versatile forwards who can score, shoot, make plays, and run the offense in Lamar Odom, and Hedo Turkoglu.  Having Odom and adding Hedo makes losing Caron Butler less of a loss.

The Clippers also get rid of Ryan Gomes who made $4 million last year and didn’t play too much.  Orlando can use him as a veteran combo forward.  The Magic also add Trey Thompkins as a young big body.  … the Clippers get to keep Travis Leslie.

If I am Orlando I also ask the Clippers for a first round pick next year and a future second rounder.  The Clippers should be good next year so they should trade that pick no questions asked.

The Clippers could use another shooter so I think Von Wafer would be a good addition in this trade, sending a cheap young shooter to the Clippers.

The Clippers give up a lot, and Dwight might not resign there but they get a great center and another superstar.  Their rotation looks solid after the Big Three with Lamar Odom, Hedo Turkoglu, Von Wafer, and Travis Leslie in supporting roles.  Plus, they still have time to get some free agent pickups.  They might be able to resign Nick Young and Reggie Evans.  Add those guys to the Clippers plus either Chauncey Billups or another free agent point guard type and the Clippers look SOLID.

Orlando may not be getting as much back at first glance but they do get a solid young center in DeAndre Jordan who could be a poor man’s Dwight Howard, plus Eric Bledsoe who is an explosive combo guard.  Trey Thompkins is a young guy with size.  Caron Butler makes a bit more money than Orlando might like but he has talent and could be a good player at the 3 for them.  And it’s not like he has an untradable contract.  Ryan Gomes makes $4 million but for only two years.  I think he can score and rebound a bit off the bench for them in either forward spot.  Then next year he would have a bit more value as a solid veteran forward with an expiring contract.  Orlando also gets a late first round pick next year to go with their own pick.

Orlando now gets something back for Howard, a guy who could have walked away and left Orlando with nothing.  They get rid of Hedo’s contract and get two young guys they can build around in DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe.  I think both those guys could fit in with Ryan Anderson.  Then you have Caron Butler who would be a good wing player in a rotation along with J Rich and Reddick.

Don’t mind the Clipper trade suggested, but I don’t think it works out money-wise.  May have to include Lamar Odom’s expiring contract as well.  Dwight and Turk for Bledsoe, Jordan, Butler, and Odom.
