There’s been a report that Anthony Davis have gained 12 pounds this summer and is up to 253 pounds while maintaining his athletic frame. Remember last offseason it have been reported that Anthony Davis wingspan grew to 7’7" and he might have grew to be 7′  (Here’s the link to the article http://www.nba.com/pelicans/news/anthony-davis-253-pounds-while-maintaining-athletic-frame)

I dont think the Pelicans training/coaching staff has gotten enough credit for their development of Davis. I think AD was almost a surefire star due to his unique blend of size/athleticism/skill, but his year-to-year improvement has been a joy to watch, and his body continues to improve every year he is in the league. Kid is a special player.

He is adding muscle and a 3-Point shot.

It sound to good to be true, because otherwise he might be the MVP of the coming season.

He is the future of the NBA. I wont even talk about his God given talents, lets talk about how good his mid range shot is and it keeps expanding to the 3 point line. Imagine once he gets a legit post up game…

Woow.. 253 for atheltic jump shhoting big is big lol.

So probably no more thanks about him being skinny.

That’s what I was saying even before his draft, Anthony has reaaaly wide shoulders to be mass on, he can make that frame even bigger I believe.

Anthony Davis is scary. In my opinion he’s far more skilled at 22 than KG was at the same age. He’s obviously stronger and I think he has better raw athleticism than a young KG. I never thought I’d see another 7 foot guy who could handle, shoot, run, jump, with lateral quickness and shot-blocking ability the way Anthony Davis does now. KG has more dog in him than Anthony Davis was an absolute nightmare to his opponents because of his relentless intensity and trash-talking. Davis is much more laid back, but when it’s all said and done, he’ll be one of the all-time greats I think if he stays healthy. I knew he was something special watching him at Kentucky and as Lebron ages, Anthony Davis will become the new face of the NBA beginning next year I believe.

You are right that Davis was quicker and faster than KG was, but I dont think he was more skilled than KG at the same stage of their career. KG used to play point forward during his prime years with the TWolves. KG was also a much better passer, with his career average of 5apg. Post up skills and jump shot their pretty much equal.

Davis averaged 24.4 ppg at 21

KG averaged 24.2 ppg in his MVP year in ’04

Bold prediction: Brow leads the lead in scoring this season with Alvin Gentry as head coach.

Not if you have ball stoppers like Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon playing next to you. There hasnt been a center to lead the league in scoring since Shaq, and theres a reason for that. Today’s game no longer revolve around centers due to small ball.

I’d like to see him improve his passing this season, especially if NO is going to play through him more in the low post. He will draw a lot of double teams and could really create a lot of opportunities for open looks. That was always one of the more underrated aspects of kgs game, he was a phenomenal passer who averaged between 5 and 6 apg every year during his prime. I’d like to see Davis do the same.

He always been a good passer, he just didn’t have a chance to showcase it in Kentucky and under Monty Williams. Towards the end of the season his passing/assist numbers went up

It’s crazy to me how many people are willing to pass over KD and give the torch from Lebron straight to Davis as the face of the NBA.

He had one down year due to injury, but KD still has his best years ahead of him and has plenty of areas to grow.

Davis isn’t ready to take the mantle from KD yet in my opinion. Crazy how many people I’ve heard just ignore Durant when talking about the future of the NBA.

It’s not that people are writing Durant off, but Davis just has so many transcendental qualities. Close to 7 feet, 250 pounds now if reports are true, insane wingspan, great jump shot for a 7 footer with expanding range, great ball handling for a 7 footer, insane defensive instincts combined with his insane measurements gives him potential to be one of the scariest defensive presences of all time.

He’s also improving at a very fast rate. He went from not winning ROY to a possible MVP candidate in three years. I don’t think Davis is gonna run away with the "best on the planet" title, I see Durant giving him a run for his money, but there’s A LOT to love about Davis and his potential.

I wanna know….can Davis get you a bucket in crunch time? I know he can get you a game-saving block….

14 seconds left….down by 1. Do you want the ball in his hands?

Davis seems to be lucky right now, his trainer said to eat more food, like seafood, so all-you-can-eat shrimp buffet in New Orleans sounds like fun.

He is also expanding his range, so expect many more 3s.

At times they could have Davis at center and R Anderson at power forward, that will open up the floor for New Orleans.

One problem NO have always had is they never got a great coach, not sure that changes this year.

I think Davis will be the best player on the planet, I’m a KD fan but man, Davis has the elite defensive skills to be the best player on the planet. I know KD forte is to score points but compared to AD’s defensive potential and mismatch potential I think his ceiling is more high than Durant. I know AD is not the type of player that be so clutch like durant but boy he’s one of a kind.

KD only won MVP because people had LeBron fatigue. LeBron and Davis are two way players, not just scoring specialists.

Davis is a stud, but he still hasn’t shown he can draw doubles in the post and create easy baskets for his teammates. His faceup game is nice, but he still scores primarily on pick and pops, lobs, put backs and in transition. I’ve watched a lot of NO games and I’m not sold on his passing either.

He’s a stat sheet stuffer defensively, is active and great on the weakside, but he could still improve a lot defensively. He could still hold his ground better (which he should now with the weight/strength gain) and be where he’s supposed to be more often. He’s a good, not great rim protector based on opponents FG% against him at the rim.

I think he’s a top five player, but I’ve still got LeBron and KD as #1 and #2 easily.
