I don’t know if anyone else has posted this yet. If so I’m sorry but AB has been putting in work so far in the NBA Summer League. Last night he posted 13 points and 14 rebs. He’s starting to resemble the dynamic player we saw at UNLV (ironic considering that’s where he’s been playing in Summer League). I know it’s not the regular season and he’s just going up against guys fighting for roster spos but his recent progress along with the fact that he’s back at his playing weight (lost 30lbs) and has been more active on the court tells me he’s been putting in the work in the gym. Did people write him off too soon. Check out the video from last night. Post interview makes you see that he’s determined to prove people wrong.

If he has got back to his prefered playing weight then that will be a big help to him, he has a lot to prove at the moment and hopefully he has put his stop-start rookie year behind him. It’s a good sign he is looking so sharp in mid-summer with a full pre-season to come, he should be in good shape for opening night.

Was it a reach to select him at #1? Yes, but without a consensus #1 prospect, the pick wasn’t as agregious as some portrayed. Personally, I’m giving Bennett a mulligan on his rookie season. He was rushed back from injury and didn’t have a specific role on last years squad.  He looks great now (physically), he’s built like a Mack truck and possesses great athletic traits, he’s a powerful/explosive leaper with a good first step. It’s not very often that you see a player with his size and strength also possess the level of dexterity that he does. Ppl jumped the gun on calling him a bust, I don’t feel as if his potential has diminishe, contrary to popular belief.  I would love to see the cavs hold onto him and give him some meaningful minutes with a clear cut role for him to attempt to fill.  Bennett just started weight training once he got to the nba, which is hard to believe given his physical abilities, to think that he may not even be close to his physical potential, which is a scary thought. I’m hoping to see him play on the perimeter more during summer league, if he can stretch the d consistently and show dribble drive ability, he’s got a bright future wherever he lands

I would love to see him come off the bench behind love in the future or slide to the small forward sometimes like draymond

if anybody is to be let go of I rather it be Tristan and the ageing varejo

I think bennet can come off the bench and give versatility that’s hard to defend. if he improves his all around game a tad bit like his handle, shot and post game a tad bit I see him being productive he has the range, the body and the ball handling ability now but the cross over he did the other day really opened my eyes I haven’t seen a 240-250 pf do a move like that ever.

we see carmello and LeBron do those things but this kid is bruiser pulling these moves off a true big with sf capabilities.

can you imagine the impact LeBron will have on these guys career

you thought bennet was in shape now wait until next season ( same for wiggins) you though he had handle now wait tell next season.

the first time around in cle LeBron had changed the culture of the city.

Now hes bringing the brotherhood from mia to cle. the camaraderie, the late nights in the gym together the suffering together . this may have been the best thing to happen to bennet theres no money ball everything in the past is forget and forgiving this is a new start for him im happy to see hes finally showing ppl hes not a bust even after having the worst stat line for a first overall pick ever.

If I am Cleveland, I just try to add some extra guys around LeBron, Kyrie, and the kids.

Mike Miller as that deadeye shooter on the wing (either the 3 or the 2).

Then Ray Allen is a pure shooter from anywhere.  He can also score a bit, not just a standstill shooter.

If they want an extra rim protector and rebounder, then they should look at Birdman or Ed Davis.

Or, if they need an extra point guard besides Irving and Dellavadova, then what about Mario Chalmers?  He has championship experience and has hit big shots.  … or Aaron Craft who is a heady, crafty, scrappy (ok, he is white) point guard out of Ohio State.  He can run a team, pass, and defend a bit.

Go with those guys to add to LeBron and the young core.

If I were them I wouldn’t sell off all the youth to bring in Kevin Love when they can just sign him next summer.

Looks like Anthony Bennett could be a serviceable oversized stretch four.  TT can board.  Dion Waiters can score and get his own shot.

I think that there aren’t any complete teams out there.  But, a Cavs team with LeBron as the top dog, Kyrie Irving as the second guy with Andy V as the enforcer/rebounder is a solid "Big Three".  Then Wiggins is a guy who can slash, defend, and get out on the break.  TT is a prototype old school power forward.  Waiters is a scoring combo guard who could be a good third scoring option.  Bennett might be the guy at the 4 who would fit in with LeBron.

The core is there:  LeBron, Kyrie, Waiters, Andy V, Wiggins, TT, and Bennett are seven guys who pretty much give you everything.  Dellavadova is a good pass-first backup point guard.  Mike Miller can really, really shoot.  You can also have him and LeBron as your forwards and you are good.  Ray Allen would be an IDEAL backup 2 guard.  Birdman would be a REALLY GOOD backup big who can rebound, block shots, and give some energy for 10-15 minutes a night.  Those are 11 guys right there.  What else would you need?  Joe Harris is there other draft pick and he can shoot, too.  As a sixth wing player he would be solid.  Ok, now they are trying to find out who their 13th man would be?

That team right there looks good enough to win the title.  If they need Kevin Love then they can sign him next summer.  Then they also have their pick and probably the Heat’s pick too (possibly a mid-first rounder) in a draft that is pretty good for big men.

If LeBron gets you 30 a night, and Kyrie gets you 50 (or some other combination to reach 50 a night), then all you need is 50 to 60 points out of Wiggins, Waiters, TT, Bennett, Andy V, and if they sign vets like MM, Ray Allen, and Birdman/Ed Davis, or whoever.  I think they could use some more interior defense, but that is not really Kevin Love’s game.  And, if LeBron and Kyrie dominate the ball then Kevin Love might be turned into a glorified pick and pop guy since he isn’t really known for his post game anyway.  Bennett or MM could be that extra shooter at the forward spot.  LeBron, Andy V, TT, and Wiggins can rebound, so its not like the team is dying for a rebounder either.

If I were the Cavs I would add some extra pieces, see what happens, and then look into adding Kevin Love next summer.

The Cavs are set up to win 3, or 4, or 5 titles.  Don’t trade the entire majority of the youth movement for Kevin Love.

ONLY problem i have with this post is Aaron Craft.

He’s not an NBA player. No need for the typical cliches with him.

I would keep the young core and go after Emeka Okafor, give him a three year, 9 million deal with the third year being unguaranteed.

I didnt write him Otto Porter or Alex Len off. Some people are just quick to make assumptions but these guys have to develop. Especially with such a strong league, nowadays talent is coming from everywhere and the league is very developed.

Neither has Bennett’s upside. I don’t see Porter or Len averaging more than 18 minutes a game in either of the next to seasons. That might be Bennetts number this year but I see him as a 28 minute a game guy after this year.

Right now Otto Porter isn’t better than Demarr Carroll and thats not a diss because I like Porter but what he does doesn’t translate. In the game the other day were he hit 30, (the reason you probably had hope) he was gunning long two’s but thats a D League gameplan. No way with even a improved shooting Wall he can space the court with Nene. His range ends at 20 feet ad his stroke at 23 feet may take years to develop.

If Len or Noel were healthy I would have picked them at 1 last year. Len was so fluid before ankle troubles at Maryland. Grant Hill showed if you play a half season on a broken ankle you may never be the same again.

You can tell his confidence has improved in his handle and his defense. He pretty much still had confidence in his Jay last year because he shot almost everytime he touched it.

He may be a tweener but he is so much a better propect than Derrick Williams as a NBA player that Sac would have to include McLemore to get a deal done.

The downside is he isn’t cheap. If he wasn’t there the Cavs could sign Blatche and Mike Miller for that 5.5 million. 3.5 for Miller and 2 for Blatche.

Tristan Thompson, Bennett and Waiters represent 15 million dollars worth of cap space. Having young guys on rookie deals is great but having top 5 lottery picks on rookie deals are very expensive.

I would give up Wiggins for Boogie in a heartbeat, screw Love and Minny.

With lots of sites saying the Cavs need to add all these extra players, surely the younger players need to be given a chance. I dont always agree with Memphis Madness but he makes a very good point above – LeBron and Kyrie effectively give the Cavs 50ppg combined so the rest of the team needs 50 to 55 ppg combined to make the team very competitive. Last year the Cavs averaged 98.2ppg but leaked 101.5ppg, so tightening up a bit on defence which LeBron will naturally bring and anything over 100ppg from the team will win them a fair few games.

Out East last season only 5 teams averaged over 100ppg in the regular season and one of the was Detroit who were not a play off team, another were Miami who won’t have LBJ this season. So the Cavs look fairly well set scoringwise to be very competitive this coming season.

There is a good case that the rest of the Cavs current line up can score as much as the rest of Oklahoma’s line up minus KD and Westbrook.

If his 3 point shot becomes more efficient then I think he could easily take Thompson’s spot. Lebron needs shooters around him and Bennett would be able to do that and rebound due to his strength and long arms. I think Cavs should build around Kyrie and Lebron. Keep Waiters as a 6th man. Lebron is going to elevate everybodys game. I think the one thing they could use is a shot blocking center because that woul fit next to Bennett down low.

Kyrie, AW, Lebron, Bennett, shot blocking center

bench: Waiters, Delly, Thompson, and Varejao on the bench with possibly Mike Miller..

To compete with Chicago they will need something else done with their frontcourt.

Told people don’t sleep on Bennett man …. dude can ball just needed to get into shape …. Bennett had a tough rookie season having too deal with the Cavs disfunction a bad coach in Mike Brown … Blatt should do better … not to mention he had a busted shoulder and didn’t get into game shape in till late in the season but by then most posters on here were calling him Kwame Brown … he should thrive playing with Lebron

see they cant contend this season but I will still try to keep flexibility to go after deal so no long term deals to anybody yet until they nab another addition in 2015.

kevin love will be the prize posseion to acquire and the cavs seem to be in the lead

Marc Gasol will be a free agent I know he loves Memphis and has been there since high school but if he wants a ring cavs need a center and if its a dpoy player its all good.

they have a lot of options if they keep their flexibility open contend this year but structure deals to have flexibility this off season because player would think prett hard about joing the cavs when they take a look at them.

The Cavs could perhaps use Thompson as C long term with Bennett as PF or SF depending where LeBeon wishes to play or they use Bennett from the bench if LeBron prefers to play PF and Wiggins slides to SF with Waiters at SG.

Miami had Haslem and Bosh as their main frontcourt so sizewise the Cavs could go with Bennett and Thompson using Varejao as a high energy bench guy like Anderson in Miami.
