Quin Snyder needs to be fired.

The Utah Jazz are laying one giant egg after another this season. Just like they do every season. And it’s not due to a lack of talent, injuries or depth. It’s on the coach and front office.

Quin Snyder is amongst the 5 worst coaches in the NBA and did nothing to deserve his contract extension a few months ago.

It’s not that hard to make the playoffs in the NBA. Provided you haven’t got gross incompetence in key positions, building a roster that competes for a 6-8 seed is pretty low expectations. Yet that’s what the Jazz are aiming for.

Dennis Lindsay is the softest executive in pro sports. He attributes sentimental value to garbage. Just look at how long he held onto Trey Burke. Deron Williams basically had to burn the franchise down before they got rid of him.

Quin Snyder is getting the Jerry Sloan longevity treatment, yet his results stink.

He simply cannot develop any semblance of an offense. Check the stats, the Jazz have been the worst offensive team in the league since Snyder came to town.

    Repeat after me…..

    FIRE QUIN SNYDER!
    FIRE QUIN SNYDER!
    FIRE QUIN SNYDER!

First of all, Dennis Lindsay wasn’t in charge back when Williams was on the team, in fact, he was still with the San Antonio Spurs no where near associated with Utah. Kevin O’Connor was still in charge, and the reason they hadn’t traded him was because his attitude problems didn’t happen until his last season. Also, he didn’t burn the Jazz franchise down. The Jazz were able to get Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, and Enes Kanter from them. Next you know Hype, that the Jazz have only played healthy Snyder’s first season, and we both know the Jazz exceeded expectations that year. So if you were going to fire anybody, fire the training/health staff. Finally, the Jazz have a defensive identity as well as an offensive identity, something we haven’t had for years, sure, we play at the slowest pace in the NBA, but it goes both ways, because other teams play A LOT slower when they face us as well. There is no reason to fire Snyder right now. If we don’t make the playoffs this year barring major injuries, then we might need to revisit this, but the Jazz making the playoffs should be considered a success this season and winning a series should be more than we ask for. Come on Hype, be a Jazz fan rather than an Ingles/Exum fan…

What hope is there if the next generation shares the same tolerance for mediocrity as the current generation of Jazz fans.

The team needs someone like me to create shockwaves and help ‘drain the swamp’ in the Utah Front Office.

I think the verdict is still out on Snyder as a coach but the jazz have been one of the hardest hit teams with injury thus far. Hayward, hill and favors have all missed significant time so far this season and they have rarely had their regular rotation in place. I think you have to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

However, this is by all means a team that has the talent and depth to challenge for a top 4 seed in the west if healthy. Anything less would have to be considered a disappointment and if snyder doesn’t look like the coach to take them to that next level they may need to consider a change sooner rather than later. You at least have to give him this season I think though unless something goes horribly wrong.

The Jazz have had no where near the worst offense in the league with Snyder. They’ve finished 17th & 16th in offensive rating the past 2 seasons, and are currently 17th again this season. The reason they score so few points is because they’re 30th in pace.

I don’t follow the Jazz closely at all so can’t really comment on his coaching ability, but the offense’s effectiveness is a pretty big flaw in your argument OP.

"Lets all tune into the Jazz game and marvel their League Slowest Offense",

      Said no-one ever.

Yeah but a league best defense. I’d pay to see that.

Here – idea to push the Jazz to the top.

Favors, Exum, Lyles and Burks to Sacramento for Boogie and Rudy Gay. Throw in some Jazz 1st Rd picks to sweeten if necessary.

Kings won’t get a better haul. Gay is already gone mentally, Cousins will eventually be moved. Works in trade machine.

Jazz try get it done with:

    Hill Hood Hayward Cousins Gobert

Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay, Boris Diaw in the second unit.

Worth it just to see Boogie live in Utah

Hype, the only thing you’re pipe bombing is your points total (and possibly your reputation). It’s weird. Let’s recap – When your handle used to be Rip, you amassed a large amount of points by talking sensibly about basketball, then went bat Sh!t crazy, lost them all (and then some), came back as Hype Machine, again amassed a fairly large amount of points, went bat Sh!t crazy again and are now in the process of destroying your point total again (if not your credibility). Mate, I know you know basketball. I’ve seen you tread the fine line between radical/controversial. But some of these posts are just brutal.

Now to get to the topic of what you posted. Personally, I reckon Quin Snyder is a good coach. For some reason he reminds me of early career Rick Carlisle. He gets his team to buy in and play hard, particularly on the defensive end. Seems to be good at developing his young players (if Lyles, Gobert and Exum are anything to go by). Is he the coach to get them over the top? Now that’s a question. I guess time will tell. He’s earned the time to show what he’s got.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Snyder. For some reason I still associate him with Mizzou, as one of the last symbols of a once great Kansas vs Missouri rivalry, that has now been thrown away at the expense of an SEC football program.

Still, speaking objectively, he has the Jazz over 500 despite George Hill missing 8 games, Gordon Hayward missing 6, and Derrick Favors missing 7 ( and counting ) while new addition Boris Diaw, in his old age, has only played in half of Utah’s contests.

George Hill has proven to be the X Factor for Utah this season, in the games that he’s played, Utah is 7-3. They are 3-5 when he’s on the bench in a suit. The Jazz’s offensive output is also increased by about 2 points per game

The Jazz have been bitten hard by the injury bug, and Snyder still has them above the 50% mark. That’s pretty impressive, and while no one will ever confuse him with Mike D’Antioni, he’s increased Utah’s points per game and dropped their points per game allowed since he took over in 14-15. In two and a quarter seasons, he’s coached his team into scoring more points, while allowing less. That’s pretty much the direction you want to go as a basketball team.
