Another call out thread from someone so offended

Dear nbadraft.net users,

This kind of fell by the way side as the thread was off the front page but this dude aamir543 had this to say during the "Who's the better NBA PG: Kemba Walker or Brandon Knight?"....

"knight may be a poor man's john stockton"

this must be one of the worst comparisons of all time. John Stockton is 1st on the career assist AND steals board, 2nd all time in games played, is a HOF, played 19 seasons in the league with 1 team (NBA record) in which the Jazz made the playoffs during every one of those seasons, played in 609 consecutive games (NBA record), 10 time All Star, averaged 10ast in 182 PLAYOFF games, named one of the NBA's 50 Greates Players, member of the Dream Team....I could keep going with this guys rediculous list of accomplishments. I don't even have to go into depth on how contrasting their playing styles are, just to put those 2 in the same sentence is insulting.

Brandon Knight will never be a "poor man's" (whatever that means) John Stockton. He could however be the "meth addicted, homeless, kindergarten educated, toothless, putrid smelling, Tyron Biggums lookin" man's John Stockton....if he's lucky.

There's a ban list right? is M-DYMES in charge of that? someone take care of this....

Sincerely,

I'm jus so offended

@KD Thunder - I think it's

@KD Thunder - I think it's stupid for the TWolves to take another PG and Kyrie is overhyped to me, he'll never reach a Chris Paul level imo. and why take Derrick Williams as you have Beasley and Love as undersized for their positions and Derrick doesn't fit in as he should play the 4, unless you move Beasley I guess

@BK - hahaha no one saw what this kid said, someone's gotta get em

and @scott, i wish i could transfer all my points over to you for that video

Calling people out......

Is always best done on the original thread. Making an entire new thread just to do it makes you like a d-bag. While I agree that the John Stockton comparison is out there, it would have been better to address it on the original thread rather than post a pretty poorly written call out. Tyrone Biggums? I saw Dave Chappelle in 2005, and people kept calling for Tyrone. He said if he ever had his show back on the air, the first thing he would do would be to shoot Tyrone in the face. Your post is Tyrone Biggums.

even though I don't have many

even though I don't have many points lol and also let me say Kanter is going to impress at work outs, he's already better than what they have in Darko. Probably could start right away. He can make up for Love defensively, can also score inside and out and if he had played this year at Kentucky, I don't think I'd be getting any flack for putting him up there

What legitimate starting

What legitimate starting point guard do the T'Wolves have now? You want Luke Ridnour running your show all next year again? Rubio looks more and more like he will not play for the Wolves and Jonny Flynn is not the answer there either. I would take Kyrie all day. Just because the T'Wolves took 4 point guards 2 years ago in the draft still hasn't solved their issue at point.

@mikeyv, as I said no one saw

@mikeyv, as I said no one saw it or was going to. And how is it poorly written? Where's your humor dog, Tyrone is a cracked out lookin' mofo, it was a joke, tryin to say Knight is much worse than a "poor man's Stockton".

this comment was of bad taste. Why you compared him to Tyron Biggums, I do not know.

Time to actually write something

Alright, first off John Stockton is a Hall of Famer, to be considered a poor mans version of him is a complement in my book, Brandon Knight has the potential to be a good pg(I would say potential allstar but there are a lot of good pg in the league, and not all can be voted in), but I wouldnt compare him to stockton.

Second Enes Kanter is a top 5 pick, so he going one doesn't is not far fetched, unless his workouts suck it all depends on the team. Plus Flynn hasn't really had a chance to succed, we all know the triangle offense is not the right system for the t-wolves, I wouldn't give up on him just yet, especially since he got injured this season.

3rd, If wolves pass on a pg this season, im sure there will be plenty of pg available next year, T-wolves are not making the playoffs next year and will be a lotto team once again.

Considering we dont know what

Considering we dont know what these young players will become, any comparison could stick or not stick. Knight has a small chance more than other to be a poor man Stockon because he can shoot. If he can improve his passing. He could possibly have number close to Stockton because he does have the length to get steals.
However that being said because Knight is not known as a playmaker, this comparison showed that someone did not really do their research and was just throwing stuff out there.

Saying Knight will never measure up to Stockton because of what Stockton has done and Knight yet to do is wrong also.

Rose is no Stockton but he has a chance to surpass Stockton if he can play enough years to accumulate those stats.

Knight has a chance too but it will be a long time before we ever know that for sure.

McDunkin rules

@im jus so offended: Well, I definitely have a sense of humor, and while quotation and references can be funny, I find this one less than brilliant. You could have used a better one. Listen to some Big Daddy Kane for some great metaphors and similes, maybe I needed a visual reference, but I just found it very played. Maybe even comparing him to another player would have been better. Either way, I give you very little in terms of originality. Like, "John Stockton is to Brandon Knight like a naked mole rat is to a piece of asparagus." Comparing him to a generally funny and not really though of as tragic character was lame! Something like that man, shoot, it just was lame!

Also, post it on that thread, people would read it and maybe say, "damn, this was a wack comparison, loser who posted a response being angry about so and so's ignorance was right". Instead, you immediately make so and so the more sympathetic character. Their are better ways to battle man, and just listing Stockton's accomplishments without listing the differences you saw in their game is like David Thorpe saying "Kyrie Irving is not going to be as good as Chris Paul because I have a hard time seeing two players like that in the league at the same time." It may be true, but, DAMN if it is not the cowards way out of an argument. Hope this dissected my dislike of your post enough. Just giving you some potentially helpful pointers, take them or leave them, or call me a hater, but I do these things to let you know why people may not be feeling you and your "battle legend" mentality.

Rose will not break stocktons

Rose will not break stocktons records in anything except maybe in scoring. Brandon Knight does not play like stockton and has no chance at breaking the steals record. Stocktons assisst and steals records are about as close to unbreakable as any records out there.

Brandon Knight is a very good

Brandon Knight is a very good shooter and very clutch. More of a scorer than a playmaker but he can play at the point. Decent size so he can play off the ball at the 2. He's more like Jamal Crawford or Stephen Curry. Or Gary Payton without the defense.

He is not much like John Stockton though. There isn't a Stockton type player in this draft. Perhaps Jimmer is a broke man's Stockton when you think of Stockton's offense of being great at the line, can finish at the basket, can hit big shots, and has a very nice 3 point stroke. Neither Stockton or Jimmer is a great athlete. But, Stockton was a world-class passer and a very good defender. Jimmer might be a little bigger. However, Stockton made most of his assists to Karl Malone, and he was the ideal guard for the pick-and-roll. I think that Jimmer is a great pick-and-roll player.

Jimmer and Favors could be the new broke homeless man's new Stockton and Mailman combo.

If you want another Stockton then wait on David Stockton. He had a 1.97 assist-to-turnover ratio, 0.9 steals, to go along with 4 points and 2 assists in 16 minutes a game. He also shot a decent 46% from the field, 33% on three's, and 83.8% from the line as a redshirt freshman.

In John Stockton's freshman year at Gonzaga, he went for 3.1 points and 1.4 assists in 9.4 minutes. He had 17 steals in 25 games. John's assist/turnover ratio was 1.48, which was less than David's 1.97 assist/turnover ratio. David had more rebounds his freshman year (1.3 per game compared to .03 per game).

David Stockton's stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=46953

John Stockton's stats: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/stockjo01.html

David is shorter, at 5'10 (compared to 6'1 John Stockton), but in limited minutes his freshman year was very favorable to his Hall of Fame dad's.

Thunder people say that until

Thunder people say that until someone breaks the record. I remember when people said Kobe would never get 6 championships and now he is 3 playoff series away with a more talented team. Does that mean he will get number 6 no. It is probably he will though and it was said he would never reach it. Injuries could change a lot of this but if these guys play 17 to 18 years like Stockton which I admit could be hard given their styles of play, it is possilbe. Knight does not play like a high flyer so he may have a better chance.

Most athletic players get worn out after 8 to 10 years. A lot of guys needs to look at Andre Miller who could play as long as stockton but will probably not overtake his stats.

Knight seems like he could take this aproach and rely more on his shooting than actually driving and dunking on people.

Knight is also a pretty heady player like Stockton was and if he can find a Malone like player to pair up with, who knows.

Ok look at it this way, there

Ok look at it this way, there is only a few players averaging over 10 assissts a game for a season. very few in history to average that many for five seasons, Stockton averaged 10.5 for 19 seasons. the steals leader this year is getting 2.6 per game stockton averaged 2.2 for his career, and had five seasons he averaged almost 3 steals a game.

PLEASE STOP

let stop comparing kid ot player to greats untill they are greats.

people don't give John Stockton enough credit he is agruable a top 3-5 pg ever.

A poor mans johnstockton will be top 20.

If I had to pick a pg to play with or on my team I couldn't go wrong with Stockton.

Assist n steals leader... great team guy.

Stop it people... n dude who made this post.

B Knight will be B knight untill he plays atleast a season or 2 then you can compare him to someone.

Steve Blake was considered a "Poor man's John Stockton."

I got into an argument with a user on this site who compared Ricky Rubio to "John Stockton with more skills."
