Although Rose ended the game with his clutch shot...

I believe the true clutch performer for this game was Luol Deng. When the score was 86-87 with 22 seconds left on the clock, Deng got the steal to give the Bulls that extra possession which led to Derrick Rose's clutch shot. Then, when it was Kobe's turn to reply next possession, Deng blocked the shot with the clock running out, hence the Bulls winning at Staples Center.

all sour grapes aside, deng

all sour grapes aside, deng traveled and got away with it. That would have been a huge turnover. Hard to call a guy clutch for ref mistakes

that's why he's here, and

that's why he's here, and that's why the bulls need him and noah at their best (that's why they are 10M $ guys).

the only real issue is boozer : he kills the cap and doesn't bring what his team needs.

Deng had 5 or 7 points in a

Deng had 5 or 7 points in a row before stealing the ball which led to Roses game winner, and blocking Bryants shot which actually won the game so llperez as much as you want to critisize the refs for making that mistake understand that Chicago earned the position they were in to win that game.

Heck of a shot by Rose. Great D by Deng. Horrific missed call... Bennie Adams strikes.

Deng traveled - landed on floor before passing. RT @SmokeyCloud Wait, which call are you talking about?

I agree with Perez. Seemed fairly one sided on the calls towards the end of the game.

@ ohcanada, if refs made

@ ohcanada, if refs made correct call on deng, the lakers most likely win and we arent having this thread about deng being clutch. So as much as you want to say he earned the position of being called clutch, understand the missed call was what what allowed that to happen.

ref' mistake or not... the

ref' mistake or not... the bulls were behind and put themselves in position to win thanks to their D.

the lakers turn the ball over, didn't put any system and let bryant walk alone at the end of the game.

I think brown is an overated coach : messina would be a better option. Great coach.

A loss is a loss, a win is a win...

Honestly refs miss calls all the time. I agree it was a travel,we all seen it. But you know what, other teams get away with calls or no calls all the time. This isn't the NFL where they review if it was ruled a touchdown. As for the shot, Rose made it, Kobe did not. All in all most teams today who have played got some kinks to work out, and the Bulls are no different. To me they we're the better team and they struggled against a Bynumless Lakers.

With all that said...Aren't we all glad the NBA is back?

considering the lakers were

considering the lakers were missing their second most important player and choked away a late lead, no, i would not say the bulls should be feeling like the better team.

"their second most important

"their second most important player" : is it bynum you are talking about ?

I'm surprised.... I think the lakers had gasol in their team. Bynum is a great center but he's always injured and is far from being perfect.

I know gasol isnt appreciated by many people (and he has true weeknesses) but I'am always choked to see how some guys are underrated what he brings to the lakers : without him the lakers should have never get their last 2 rings.

Nothing to be upset about

He shot very well, he's not a pure shooter and we know that. But if something is working you don't stop until IT stops working. Now in terms of improving his team mates play, I think he could of done a better job of that. He still had 5 assists though so Idk.

Geez llperez, you are giving

Geez llperez, you are giving the Bulls absolutely no credit whatsoever here haha.

To those above me:

Rose played great, he let the game come to him and only really forced one shot. He played efficient (most of the TO's were garbage) and stepped up when he needed too.

The NBA has the worse refs in

The NBA has the worse refs in all of sports, calls get missed all the time. The Bulls beat a very good team, on the road. Endo story.

By the way, what is up with Kobe getting no love from the Lakers or the refs anymore? The guy just seems to get sh!tted on all the time these days.

NBA refs have the hardest job

NBA refs have the hardest job compared to nfl and MLB officials... The game is sooo fast and the players are very crafty which makes it so difficult to ref an NBA game.. Btw the lakers have gotten their fair share of calls over the years ***cough cough*** Sacramento Kings...

Either the Bulls have some

Either the Bulls have some work to do or the Lakers are ready to kill it... I expected a lot more from a Bulls team going against a Lakers team that has no more Odom, no Bynum, and a rapidly declining Ron Artest.

I think that call was a lot

I think that call was a lot closer than people realise, I took a look at it on replay a couple of times from a side on angle and it's hard to say definitively whether or not Deng travelled, certainly too difficult a call from that angle in real time.

Also, not as bad as the call against the Celtics with the Marquis "foul".

I'm a Kobe fan and was AT the game...

Kobe played terrible the last 1 min and half... 3 TO's and one bad shot at the end... Why didn't he pull up? Secondly, a jump pass to Gasol? Really? This game shouldn't come down to missed free throws from Pau and McRoberts... The best player on the team SHOULD HAVE made better basketball plays at the end... Yes D. Rose hit that shot but I wasn't impressed by him at ALL today... I felt like he didn't take over when needed and Deng actually played better late... Yea he hit that floater but the 2 freethrows by Deng and impressive D on Kobe won it for them... Congrats to Deng (I think is underrated defender, played GOOD D on LeBron last year, until the Playoffs of course)... A travel on Deng? Yes, but no true competitor allows the blame to be put on the refs unless its obvious its one sided... This goes for fans rooting for their teams too... Stop being bias, if you are a TRUE fan you should be the team's biggest critic too... The Lakers played terrible and that missed call shouldn't have even mattered... Kobe needs to do better... Especially since he has the non-clutches (yea I made it up) coach in NBA history on his sideline... The Lakers can't have their coach and best player drop the soap late in games... This will look too similar to the Cavs a couple years ago...

Some bad play could be becaz

Some bad play could be becaz of short preseason. Fouling Deng was odd, missed call by refs was big obviously.

Both teams rushing to pass the ball in traffic when other teammates were open seemed odd. Both these teams have played deep in the playoffs and they seemed lil rattled for the 1st regular season game. I'm sure the Lakers will be fine when Bynum comes back. Also ppl need to stop hating on Pau Gasol or go watch game 7 of the 2010 Finals. The guy at least on offense is like a poor mans Hakeem Olajuwon with all his moves, foot work. Also he can rebound, block shots and doesn't have an attitude when he doesn't get his touches.

I actually think Brown is a horrible coach. With the Cavs I thought he was a clown and LB was the coach.

^Coach Brown

I dont think he is that good of a Coach either. But I think he is in a tough spot replacing The Zen Master.

With that said, I am very happy with Marc Jackson, even though he never coached before, I think he will rebuild the Warriors.

1. Mike Brown isn't Phil

1. Mike Brown isn't Phil Jackson, but the Laker D was absolutely excellent. Brown gets a ton of credit for that.

2. Lakers missed a ton of open shots in the fourth, and those free throws were killer. Bulls missed a ton of layups in the third. It evens out.

3. Kobe didn't play poorly, he made the right basketball plays on all but that very last possession. Deng played phenomenally, and, although it didn't show statistically, so did Noah who was awesome at being all over the place on D.

4. Deng call was blown, yes, and we might not be talking about him otherwise... but the block at the end and the big scoring in the clutch still count in his favor and we should absolutely be talking about him either way.

5. I loved Rose's efficiency. He's an incredible player, but I'd have expected more from him against Blake and Fisher.
