EspressoprodigyParticipantI havent seen any website listing him as a one a done and I feel he projects to be everything that people is expecting Malik Newman to be. He has the ball on a string for a SG to the point where he can slide to PG, with his measurements varying from 6’5 to 6’4. He can create his shot at will, specially out in the perimeter where he can get his shot off the dribble after separation at seemingly anytime he wants, with his jumper being wet like girls at a Bieber concert.
His athleticism and abilty to finish at the rim could use a brush up but he goes hard to the rim and does a great job of drawing fouls. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and is out to kill in the court and prove what he is.
Opinions on him? Do you think he can be a one and done?… I certainly believe so.0 - Posted on: Wed, 08/19/2015 - 4:54pm #1008667
ChewyParticipantso I can’t comment on his game, but what I can comment on is your simile..
"with his jumper being wet like girls at a Bieber concert."
After reading this I started a slow clap. My brother looked at me weird. I don’t regret it. It was what the comment deserved.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantYeah, I like him better as a shooting guard prospect than Malik Newman. He can score from all three levels, he measured in at 6’5" with shoes (6’4" w/o shoes) at the Nike Hoop Summit, and he can create his own shot. I don’t believe he’s a one and done prospect, just yet. I believe he have to work on his shot selection, decision making, and his off the ball movement. But, I do believe he will go either way due to the fact that if he improves drastically he won’t be a top 10 pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He have a better oppotunity in becoming a top 10 pick in this draft w/o improving than being a top 10 pick the following year improving drastically.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI’m not disputing the report, but Trier doesn’t look 6’5. I’m from Arizona and follow the UA program closely and am quite excited for him to light up McKale center next year. Watching him last year he seemed like he could use a solid two years before leaving but you never know these days.

ChicagoCaseyParticipantAllonzo Trier measurements on all time he had to be measured. He have a really thin frame, but his height always been consistent.

Andrew1984ParticipantTrier looked very average at the Hoop Summit (4-12 FG in 23 minutes).

whiteflashParticipantPeople were saying the exact same things about Gabe York, and look where he is. Trier can play, but I don’t see him being one and done. While we’re at it, I think Newman’s gonna struggle to adjust. Kid can shoot the shit outta the ball, but he’s super ball dominant, not overly explosive, struggles getting by/through defenses and settles for way too many long jumpers. Anybody remember Daniel Gibson? Right now, I see Newmann as Gibson with a crossover. And before people trip, Gibson was a top 10 recruit in highschool as well.

GBeeParticipantI don’t think he’s all that great of a prospect TBH. Could he be one and done? Possibly, NBA teams are thirsty for SGs. I mean, Rashad Vaughn just went 17th who I think sucks as a player right now and I also think his upside is overrated. But just looking at the upcoming mocks, there could be a good number of (mediocre) SG prospects in the mix. Trier would just be one of them should he declare. He has no point skills. In fact, I’ve seen him struggle with executing the most basic of plays and passes. Like for Team USA, this kid looked like he didn’t even know how to make a simple post entry and his swing passes were late because he’s always look at his man and/or the hoop when he caught the ball. His size isn’t good for a 2 with his below average wingspan, while lacking the above average athleticism to make up for that. He’s not quick or explosive. He does have some sneaky strength to his game able to shed defenders, hold his line on drives and maintain his balance to get off shots on the move. He does have some shot creating ability too, but I’m not a fan of his release. IDK, kinda reminds me of a poor man’s OJ Mayo.

r377ParticipantI like Trier and with not alot of strong SG’s in this draft I currently have him as a mid first rounder. Reminds me a bit of caris levert.
