Tyreke JohnsonParticipantThese guys can all play and defend multiple positions and their games are able reflect a variety of skills and an array of basketball talent, some players are Hall of Famers while others might not and others are too young to tell.
PG Magic Johnson
SG Tracy McGrady
SF Lebron James
PF Lamar Odom
C Kareem Abdul JabbarMagic could play every single NBA position at an all star level, and completely dominate, I consider him the most versatile player of all time. His court vision and basketball savvy are what allowed him to be so versatile as well as his advanced post game, refined perimeter skills and passing ability, also his 6’9 frame helped a bit.
T-Mac, could play PG,SG,SF and completely dominate, this is prior to all of his injuries though, he could defend effectively as well, he had one of the most versatile offensive games I have ever seen and it is a shame he was plagued with injuries
Lebron- not exactly the biggest Lebron fan but he is by far the most physically gifted player the NBA has ever seen, he is present day Dr J, he can do things people can only dream of doing, he can play PG, SG,SF and PF effectively and at an all star level, he is quick enough to guard PGs and SGs and can out muscle them, he is too quick for SFs and most of them he can out muscle, he is too agile for them. For PFs he is able to stand his ground because of his muscular 275 pound frame but on offense he can completely dominate them by taking them out to the perimeter, off the dribble, take them to the rim, post them up and use his face up game to blow by them. His court vision allows him to excel at either Guard spot.
Odom- some may take this as a shock but when he is aggressive Odom is an all star talent at SF, PF and maybe C depending on the match up, he can handle the ball very well, take it to the rim at will when he is on attack mode, can shoot in from the perimeter, his superior length allows him to excel at rebounding, blocking and shooting over guys or posting them up on the low block, he is an underrated passer as well, he brings so much to the table its a shame he does not perform consistently
Kareem- I picked him because I could not really think of any truly versatile Cs but Kareem was a monster, could play the PF, or C position his post game was phenomenal and created the unguardable sky hook. He rarely did but could shoot from the perimeter, was pretty quick and agile considering his size and though not a great passer was able to find the open man on occasion due to him being double teamed a lot, great rebounder due to his height and length and also in his younger days was very athletic.
Tell me guys what you think agree disagree add any more players if you like

Michael.S.ParticipantI’d put David Robinson at the C spot. You can also consider Pete Maravich and O for the pg spot.

sacphil_08ParticipantI think that back in his time magic could play center and dominate but in the 90s when there were all those dominant bigs (david robinson, olajuwan, mourning, shaq, ewing etc.) theres no way he plays the center position and dominates. He couldve probably played the 4 during that time and that wouldve ended when in the mid to late 90s you had your chris webbers, rasheed wallaces, kevin garnetts, etc not knocking him but there were guys that were specialists at those postions as i listed and magic wouldnt have been able to hang with those guys

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantI did not mean he could play it all the time but his versatility allowed him to play at a high level at the Center spot when needed, they obviously would not play him against the dominant centers but Kareem was out during one game in the playoffs and Magic played every position that game and had 40+ points, I am not saying he could beat out the Shaqs and Hakeems but he could do well against others when needed thanks to his versatile game. And plus Magic had his most dominant years in the 80s when he won 5 rings in the 90s by the time all those centers were becoming premier players Magic was diagnosed with HIV and retired in like 1992/1993 so he obviously would not be matched up with all those players especially in the mid 90s with the power forwards because he was retired and only made a brief come back at PF and did fairly well actually.

the I in winParticipantI was thinking Hakeem at center. Also at PF I would consider KG back in the day when he could lock up anybody on the perimeter and in the paint.

CameronParticipantI think Penny was more versatile than TMac ever was, in fact, I think Jordan was more versatile than TMac ever was… and I was a huge Tmac fan

McWinningParticipantBoris Diaw.
He played center a couple games when Amare, and Kurt Thomas went down, and then in the playoffs he started 20 games at center. and he averaged over 6 assists that year.

GrandmamaParticipantHakeem at C, look at some of his early highlights….most notably the ’86 championship vs the Celtics, I think it’s ’86 not 100% sure. His quickness and ability to run the floor were unmatched vs other centers. He also had great handles for a center and was a decent passer. Look those early highlights up though, some of the sh*t he did early in his career is jaw-dropping.

dipt1982ParticipantI would absolutely have to have Hakeem at the Center spot. And T-Mac? Mehhh, a bunch of other guys could fit in better at that spot.

JNixonParticipantDiaw is one of the most versatile players I’ve ever seen. He can play some of all 5 positions, and has done it too. Glad he was at least mentioned.

ilike.panochasParticipantWheres Kevin Garnett? He averaged 5 assist per game as a PF and has the length at 7’0 to play center.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantAgree .. Bt Why Not Jordan ?
Tim Duncan Should Get Mention ..
KG Could Be At Center ..
Shaun Livingston Coulda Been On The List ..0 - Posted on: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 3:20pm #364564
HotSnotParticipantI might be mistaken but I’m pretty sure Wilt is the only player in history who has led the league (in different seasons mind you) in scoring, rebounds and assists. The assists were surprising but apparently he pulled the feat off for an entire season to shut up all those people who said he was a selfish player.

joecheck88Participantyea, i definately have to go hakeem at C. but its a great list and hard to argue against any except C which is probably the hardest position to be versatile at.
