    Hi everyone,

So I was just looking at some of the NIT scores and came across Alec Peters, a junior from Valpo. His stats are impressive. 51% fg and 45 % from 3s. taking 5.5 3s a game and averaging 18.5 ppg. He is 6’9″ 230lbs. Seems like he could be a legit NBA prospect from the stats that I see. Has anyone seen him play? I didn’t get to watch any Valpo games but his stats intrigued me. What can you tell me about him?

He can really shoot it for a player his size plus he’s a high iq player with a good feel for the game. He sort of reminds me of Ryan Anderson. I definitely think he has potential as a stretch 4 in the league. He may be a defensive liability somewhat, but I think there’s a place for him in the league. Don’t think he will declare this season but he has a good chance to be drafted in the second round next season and he could potentially be a steal.

I think the questions for him will be: (1) is his shooting a legit NBA skill, that is does he have/can he develop the consistency, range especially, and quick release needed for the professional level? By all accounts he has shown it at Valpo (*side note: a shame they did not get in the tournament, I think they had a run in them), but to be a stretch 4 in the NBA, you gotta be able to STROKE it,  a la Ryan Anderson, Channing Frye

Also, I think a guy who is pretty similar to him as a prospect is Tyler Lydon, of Syracuse. I’ve only seen him a few times but his stroke looks sweet an he may be more athletic than Peters.. Also younger. I know this is post isn’t about him but interesting to see what happens with these good *white, though not intentionally* stretch fours were seeing in ncaab. Wiltjer, Peters, Lydon, TJ Leaf next year.

Although Richardson has been stealing headlines at Syracuse as a standout freshman I believe Tyler Lydon is the better long-term prospect.

Valpo is on ESPN tonight fyi. Peters is a legit prospect to me, can shoot and put it on the floor.
