Brown was a late bloomer out of High School and recieved heavy interest from schools like Washington State and Northwestern but signed with Wisconsin- Green Bay in the Horizon League. He may not be done growing quite yet either. He is way too slim to be considered for the NBA this year and possibly even next but watch for him once he physically develops. He has started every game for UWGB and has broken school blocks records already. He makes up for his lack of weight with quickness and an outside shooting ability to go along with his length. He also has made many plays running the floor this year and moves very well for his height. Also has played big in big games and in 2nd halves and late game situations. Probably runner up to McDonalds All- American Ray McCallum Jr. from Detroit for freshman of the year in the Horizon so far. Does need to add bulk and strength as well as work on staying out of foul trouble but definitely is a prospect to watch.
Current stats- 21 games – 22.7mpg
9.4 ppg – 5.4 rebs – 2.1 blocks – 49.6% fg (68/137) – 66.7% 3pts (2/3) – 71.1% FT (59/83)
Notable Games-
12/13 @Wisconsin – 29min – 8/11- 2/2ft – 18pts – 8rebs – 2blks
12/20 North Dakota- 33min – 4/8 – 10/13 – 19pts – 7rebs – 8blks
12/30 @Detroit – 28min – 5/9 – 1/2 – 11pts – 6rebs – 1blk
1/21 @Butler -20min – 4/6 – 9pts – 5rebs – 1blk (all in last 11min)
1/23 @Valpo – 29min – 4/6 – 7/7 – 15pts – 6rebs – 3blks

canesboy6Participantya, I heard a bit about this kid before the season started. 7-1 puts you on the NBA radar almost no matter what. That said, he isn’t even averaging 10 ppg in the Horizon league, so he is far from a sure thing. He will be an interesting one to see 1. How much healthy weight he can gain 2. How his game improves and 3. How his team does.
Small conference big men usually have to at least be competitive in conference, if not elite. Its hard for an Agent to pitch a kid to GM’s that couldn’t get W’s.

Jayhawks2011Participantplayed this kid last year in the state tournament. Our tallest player is 6’6. He killed us. Don’t think he has nba potential though. Way to skinny and doesnt have the frame to grow that much.

cloudhawk07ParticipantAlec set the school record for blocks in a season tonight, he now stands at 50 for the season. He ended up with 12pts 9rebs and 6 block vs Wright State.
canesboy- I understand that he isnt putting up huge numbers this year, but they have only gone up in the last month and a half. And look at Harrison Barnes, even against weak competition he has struggled this year. If not for McDonalds All American Ray McCullum Alec is the Freshman of the year in the Horizon hands down. Also i get that to be noticed in that conference yoy need to guide tour team to wins and the tourney but without Alec UWGB has 6 less wins this year. Just look at Meyers Leonard from Illinois for example, him and Alec played against eachother in AAU before their senior year and Alec more than held his own if not bettered Meyers. He is a projected lottery/mid-first round pick in a few years. Here are their numbers in games vs the same competition:
vs UIC 12min 2/3 4pts 1reb 4fouls
vs Wisconsin (twice) 20min 1/3 3pts 5rebs 5fouls
Alecs numbers:
vs UIC 29min 5/12 11pts 10rebs 2fouls
@ Wisconsin 29min 8/11 18pts 8rebs 2blks 1foul
Granted Alec gets more minutes but his efficiency is alot higher, and since the Badgeres game in mid december Alec is averaging 11.75 ppg 6.6 rpg and 2.75bpg. Pretty solid numbers for an 18 year old kid.
And Jayhawks2011- How can you say that he doesnt have a chance at the NBA, he only put up 35 12 and 5 on you guys in the state tourney. The last person to put up those numbers in a state tourney was Cole Aldrich and look where hes at. Your also talkin about a kid who hasnt even physically matured yet. Just sayin watch for him in a couple years cuz he could be somethin to watch.

Given how he knew a high school stat line of a midmajor freshman playing in small town Minnesota, I would presume that it is because he knows the guy.
