All right, it's been a while since we had an ego-feeding thread like this one, so I decided to make one. Too much basketball talk...
Most Mediocre Poster-
Wizard of Oz
Hi Its Ben
Most De-proved Poster (like the opposite of Most Improved poster; who's getting worse)-
8th Deadly Sin
Poster We Wish Had Never Returned-
Most Unnecessarily Hostile Poster
Cheyenne Lawton (Memphis Tyga)
Both Teams Played Hard
Definitely do not think you needed to do this, man. I am all about honesty and can be incredibly blunt, but I think this is beyond trolling.
best poster that joined in 2012.....<
All in good fun, right?...
Posters Who Need to Get An Avatar So I Can Remember Who They Are-
The only one of these I would answer is #3, and EuropeanBaller is the only right choice.
I think you all know the answer.
I still think that there are people on this list who do not necessarily have a sense of humor on this. I just think this could have been maybe more subtly funny rather than, well, mean. It is like Ricky Gervais at the 2010 Golden Globes (I did not watch it, just heard the aftermath). Ricky Gervais is hilarious (my favorite), but some of his jokes were kind of mean and not necessary. Felt that the Robert Downey Jr. one in particular was old news and that Downey Jr. had a great summation:
"Aside from the fact that it's been hugely mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones, I'd say the vibe of the show has been pretty good so far, wouldn't you?"
I am all about talking things out, but this is too passive-aggressive of a fashion and it gives no real reasoning. I find that you tend to sometimes get an interpretation of a person that is not completely them. Every poster has faults, but how will they improve if you do not at least give them a road map of what is wrong?
By the way, Future_Scout, you joined in 2011. It is next to your name. May not have posted until 2012, but sorry bud, you have an arrow pointing to 11/30/2011.
Also, Maniac Maciej. Your name is Maniac Maciej. That is all I need to say.
wOW!! ProudGrandpa dont like NoBoDy...Thank GoOdNeSs for GUn LAWS!!!! Hahahahaha
I am as mediocre a poster as they get!
I'm just so offended now
"May not have posted until 2012"
exactly what happened mickey, i originally joined the site only to create my mock
I would like to nominate myself for the "Well, I don't know what category I fall under or if people think I'm annoying or funny but I'm still around this website and contributing and I'm Indian" Award aka the W.I.D.K.W.C.I.F.U.O.I.P.T.I.A.O.F.B.I.S.A.T.W.A.C.A.I.I. Award
I actually do not mind you as a poster, but posting something like that is not helping, lol. It takes every kind of poster to make this site go 'round. You may not be liked by all (I know I'm not, which I think is good and bad at times), but you serve a purpose. Personally, while I like funny quips, I like thought going into posts as well. That is why, "WTF?" or "He is good at things" posts are not really my bag. Not accusing you of the latter, but the former well, just look above.
Ouch.... That cuts deep man...
I never get the point of these threads, is it ego, humor, insecurity, boredom?
MikeyV that was fuccin great it boggles me little head (the bigger little one) that people still don't always know who Ricky Gervais without having to do the whole, you know the guy from...he was in...
But that was also a grea example of why Robert Downey Jr. is the effin man. He has one of my favorite scenes in any movie during Tropic Thunder when they tell him the movies over and he's not black so why are you still talking like it and he just replies with "I don't drop character till the DVD commentary" The very fact he played a black guy in a movie that was in a movie was hilarious. I'd like to see people's reaction if somebody really did it for a serious film, like casting George Clooney for a Bernie Mac bio epic. People would flip their lids.
Kevin Hart is the funniest guy alive in my mind just thought i'd throw that out there .
Gramps, I don't understand what you're doing with the word abstract in the title...yeah after 3 periods i still don't know. The most de-proved poster one was funny tho.
I'd like to nominate TongueOut for the Lebron Citizenship Award which is rewarded to the poster that tries to hard to get people to like him.
I laughed at the Most Unnecessarily Hostile Poster award.
BothTeamsPlayedHard wins that hands down.
"Congratulations for being a part of the basketball public that needs to be taught a lesson."
That quote alone won him the award lol.
I'll just go ahead and get my speech ready for the most biased fan.
We all know most biased fan goes to that syracuse guy lol honestly now...
I guess I get you MikeyV but I like to mix things up with my posts. It seems like whenever I type out a long post it doesn't get mych of a response. so ya.
"Congratulations for being a part of the basketball public that needs to be taught a lesson."
I mean, don't we all feel like saying this sometimes? Yes, it is kind of snobbish and incredibly dry, but that dude can be funny as hell. He has a good sense of humor, I believe, even if at times his ego and refusal to admit being wrong is out of this world at times. Louisville/Washington>Kentucky debate is one to remember:
Still, I feel that he is right quite often and that sometimes people take him very much out of context. He points to basketball IQ points that many people often miss out on and has opened my eyes quite a few times in debate points over certain players or positions. I find myself agreeing with him much more often than not, though when I disagree his position never really seems to change all that often. I will say he is unflinching, which makes him look brilliant when he is right and confusing/stubborn when he is wrong. Still, I find that he keeps it on talking business, which is basketball.
Did I just get called out by this little BIIIIIAAACCCHHH???
Careful POPS....seems because you are finally gettin getting some points...you think peeps value your "basketball opinion" about shyt...PUMP your brakes tubby...it wasn't too long ago you were in the negatives because...well...your posts SUCK & usually have NO basketball merit whats so ever.
I have always been cool to you POPS...even when people rag on you because you act like a 2 year-old...Look back at some of my past posts...never said anything bad about you...even said you a decent writer...while that is true...clearly you are a F*&K STAIN.
Instead of just calling someone out for no reason..I'll back my claims up with some evidence...Here are some recent posts that basically sums up your basketball knowledge:
(1) This post...yet another one of your ":fantasy" posts to try and talk with your "so-called friends"...that is NOT basketball related.
(2) A post talking about Dragon Ball Z...lol...good lord...do I even need to comment on this WASTE of a post http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/record-setting-thread-and-most-fateful-com...
(3) A post talking about how wierd the names are for St. John's...once again...you out did yourself...such research you must have done...ground breaking information...definitely couldn't have lived the rest of my life without that... http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/st-johns-name-game
(4) A post talking about Sexual Predators & how you are afraid to be abducted...lol...ummm...YES...great post Grandpa...you are clearly becoming a better poster...keep up the good work...and don't talk 2 strangers http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/sexual-predators
This BS goes on and on and on....you been at this site for 3 years...and these crappy posts are just some recent ones of yours...I am afraid to look back into your archives.
I am not an internet tough guy...I don't talk shyt over the internet...but...you got a problem with me...I can definitely try and take some time out of my life...and meet you face 2 face...and you can REALLY tell me how you feel...if not...keep my name OUT of your mouth you lil shyt.
Bottom line...I have forgotten more about basketball than you will ever remember...NBA, College, High School...don't matter bro...you can't touch me when it comes to knowledge of the game...even my diarrhea knows more about basketball than you do.
Here's a track that somes your BIAAACCCH AZZ up!!!
Can I be nominated for "Poster who comes and goes as he pleases"
paradigmn that was.....................AWESOME
lol, sounds like a feud, what do ya say nbanflguy?
@What The Devil, No you can't go to hell.
@Grandpa, I can't believe you made a post about the first names to the players of St. Johns...WTF? Whatever you're hitting please pass it over here. But then I noticed do they really have somebody on their team named god'sgift and sirdominic? They must have been smoking with you when they filled out the birth certificate.
haha future scout this is definatly a feud. The top up and coming rivalry on nbadraft.net
F*ck it, I'll do it since everyone is afraid of what everyone else is going to think about them.
Mediocre: Hi its Ben
Deproved: Aamir, he went from being smart to annoying in just one thread. (That DBZ thread)
Unnecessarily hostile: BTPH
Posters to never return: I don't know who the other three guys are so I'll go with European Baller.
Still mad about his Melo for Noah/Deng thing, huh? LOL. Everyone used to be big BTPH fans, always wanting him to finish a thread. Guess that died down with time, I suppose. Well, I picture you as this, only replace "Packers" with "Bulls"/"Aaron Rogers" and "Casey Matthews" with "Derrick Rose" and "Taj Gibson" (keep in mind this is a joke and I still think you are awesome):
As big a sports fan as I am, with age I have learned to not get upset over my teams' failures. I just get up and go to work the next day.
Gramps, you obviously don't read any basketball related topics, no one likes people who try to begin controversey for their own amusment(although if that is your goal, your doing a pretty good job at it, lol).
8th Deadly Sin doesn't post too much anymore, but that doesn't mean he isn't a great poster. He made up a very good system that rates point guards, and aside from the whole Jeremy Lin Facts thread fiasco, and there was a time last summer where he posted ridiculous trades(It's all good because it was the lockout) he is a good poster that gives good insight on BASKETBALL TOPICS!
Paradigm doesn't post much either, but I wouldn't say he's getting worse. He does his homework on young prospects(Very Young prospects, we're talking Leroy young), and aside form using too many caps, has great analysis of them too.
And as for Leroy, he's never posted about basketball, but even he's as funny as ever.
Gramps, we are all here to talk about basketball, threads like these and the off topic section are extra to stuff on the main board. Either talk about Basketball, or please take your talents to South Beach(meaning Facebook).
And how in the world is Wiz of Oz a mediocore poster? He also doesn't post much anymore, but when he does he knows his stuff and explains things very clearly.
These types of posts are funny and they can be worthless and helpful at the same time..
There are maybe 300 people on this site, but i think only 20 really know anything about the game of basketball, the rest are Sportscenter HIGHLIGHT JUNKIES...
The Most Underrated Posters are:
3.McDunkin(his gifs are instant classics, but he sometimes posts some interesting basketball related stuff...
And for the guys that really know the game and can explain it in ''ONLY'' 3 or 4 sentences the Top 7 posters to me are:
"There are maybe 300 people on this site, but i think only 20 really know anything about the game of basketball, the rest are Sportscenter HIGHLIGHT JUNKIES..."
say what?... r u serious?
^I'd hate to say it but it is true. (And Future Scout, you're new, but your posts are interesting and insightful as well)
no way. a lot more than 20 people here are good posters and watch more than just highlights...
Future Scout@ most are bandwagon jumpers, they really dont know the game....
I'd even say twenty is stretching it. I think less then that truly know the game well.
Future Scout is right, you just named people with a lot of points. If someone just joined yesterday are you gonna say they dont know anything just because they have no points. Guys who have a lot of points know basketball, but its pretty ignorant to rule everyone else out.
I realize that isn't directed at me, but I'd like to explain myself a bit. I think there are a lot of specialists on this site, guys who know there teams and favorite players well. Kinda calling out my buddy here, but nbanflguy doesn't know much about any team in the NBA other then the Wolves and doesn't know anything about college prospects, and he would admit this. He knows the Wolves really well though, and he's still a good poster. I don't think there are a lot of people who truly know a lot about the entire game though. Doesn't mean there are only 15-20 good posters.
^Just curious, who are your 15-20 that truly know the game?
No these type of threads are neccesary change of pace excercises that should remind people that it isn't that serious. A lot of people get their fruit of a looms all up in a bundle on here often.
I got a question...Do long post bother people? I know I write a lot and often delete have of what I wrote and still submite a 5 paragraph response to a simple question. I have the same problem when talking I try to elaborate as much as possible so there is no confusion as to what I mean.
I don't have a set list. Plus I've seen some great posts by guys who ahve usernames I don't remember. But a couple people who would be on it are IndianaBasketball, JNixon, MikeyV, surve and BTPH. I'm a fan of providencefriars as well.
Edit: I forgot the guy above me too. Mr. 19134 might say a lot of things I don't agree with, but he knows the game really well.
@RUDEBOY- I am not going to shoot you
@I May Be Wrong- Even if Aamir even qualifies for this one, you got it in the bag
@ Hi It's Ben- Mediocrity is not really a bad thing. It just emans you're average and really do nothing to distinguish yourself as a poster. Embrace your mediocrity
@RichieRebel- Definitely boredom.
@Mr. 19134- The "Abstract" means that it is different from all the positive awards that are usually given out (like the ones Aamir did in November). They weren't meant to sound negative, if that's how it came across. Like "Mediocre"? That's not really a positive or a negative. And Kevin Hart got way too much play during All-Star Weekend
@DanEBoy- Actually, I never really noticed your biased-ness
@MikeyV-When you and BTPH gonna tie the knot?
@paradigmn-Woah, woah, woah! I'm sorry for my handling of this. The thing is, you originally set a high standard for yourself (as did Leroy) and you ain't following up! No, I really do respect you. You know WAAAAY more about ball than I do. I wasn't trying to "call you out", I honestly was just throwing names out there that I could somewhat justify. I liked the category but couldn't think of any good examples. Once again, sorry! Keep up the good work. And I find that song offensive. I hope my grandchildren haven't heard it...
BTW, I can spell MUCH better than you, so I got that going for me...
@What The Devil- Good to see you again. I think you have the best avatar on the whole site, actually. It makes me laugh every time.
@Future_Scout- No, no feud. I have enough of them on my hands.
@TOL23- Thank you for participating
@ MikeyV (again)- Good thoughts all around. I respect what you have to say, though I do think there was some worth to this thread.
Y2G, I get what you are saying about specialty guys since I am one myself. I know college bball inside and out but that means I have to give up on watching the NBA until playoffs. Ya my comment was directed at Rudeboy.
Johnny Chill is the poster you don't immediately ignore soley because of his avator.
But you're still a good poster because you're great at your specialty, like nbanflguy is with his. I'm basically just saying the site doesn't have a ton of complete posters. Lots of posters do tend to be huge bandwagon jumpers on this site though.
I can't believe I am saying this but:
Thanks Aamir! We are friends now because you defended my honor.... I don't love you yet but I am close.
^Anytime, my friend, anytime:)
Sorry to have left you out Providencefriars..You are among the most underrated posters..And your posts are thoughtful, you seem to know alot about the game...
Alot of guys on here are too young and just started watching basketball in the late 90's or 2000's...They might not understand why old school guys will say no matter how many points Kobe scores,or no matter that Kobe was a better athlete or defender then Magic Johnson,he would never be the best Laker of all time,Magic Johnson is the greatest Laker of all time...
Or a young guy might compare Austin Rivers to OJ Mayo, but havent noticed that Rivers have a much better 1st step and a better athlete then Mayo..
Hope I make the list one day
