What do you guys think of him as a prospect?  I think he’s the perfect backup point guard for an NBA team.  Hes not very athletic but he’s smart, and a great passer.  In my eyes, hes a bit of a poor man’s Andre Miller.  I think he’ll surprise some people and have a solid 10 year career.

Alot of scouts aren’t too crazy about his game..Some say they dont see him getting drafted..

But The very 1st thing almost every nba scout will point out about him is his amazing 1st step..Scouts also love his great court vision, and ability to create off the dribble..But he’s an average athlete and will have trouble defending those lightning quick point guards in the league and he doesnt have consistency on his shot…

His pass 1st mentality and ability to get guys in their right places, might get him a look in the early 2nd round..

im a diehard husky homer, so take this with a grain of salt. My opinion is that Gaddy is still a work in progress. he was 17 when he started playing as a freshman, and suffered a knee injury just as he was hitting his stride. I think there is a huge variance in where he could land in the NBA. ive watched every minute of every college game hes played, so i feel i can weigh in with some value. I think his court vision, basketball IQ, and passing skills are all NBA caliber. his scoring game is still a work in progress. his first step is indeed killer, but he is a pass first player to the core. The comp to andre miller is fitting. I dont think people realize how few reps he has as a college player given washington’s recent guard depth and his injuries. He posesses some definite NBA skills, and the League is filled with guys who get by on savvy even though they are sub par athletes (re:derek fisher). what I can say is that gaddy is a gamer and a team player to the core. he works hard and believes in being a team guy. he came to washington intending to stay four years and romar has basically handed the offense over to him. I think the key with AG will be developing a strong perimeter jimmy. I definitely think he will stick in the NBA as a protoype backup PG, but I think his story as a prospect is far from over. he truly understands the game and how to function in a system. keeping in mind that hes always been a year younger than his peers, I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt. he is also a very underrated defender. hes not an explosive athelete, but he knows how to defend his position, and thrives on his ability to anticipate at both ends of the floor. his skillset is unique. most of his value resides between his ears. if john wall is the physical specimin you want in a pg, Gaddy is the head you want attached to that body. this will be a rocky year for UW as they break in young talent, and I think he needs to build a rep as a floor general. he will stay another year for sure, so alot of analysis is yet to come. with his passing skills and mental command of the game he will be an NBA pro for sure. the real question is whether he can pull it all together and max out his potential. if he can continue to develop his long range shooting, hes the ideal PG for the triangle. he sees the court, knows his role, and though hes not a polished finisher, he has that knack for creating space for teammates to score. I’d say he’s a safe bet to stick in the League for a long time, and probably produce for a title contender. from what ive seen over three years, he knows who he is and who he isnt. he has character, work ethic, and has overcome alot of obstacles to get to where hes at. Im excited for the UW-Duke game in december.

ps…the real NBA game changers balling for UW are Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten. espeically Juice Wroten. I havent seen a passer like that in decades, and at his size 6’5", he has a real chance to develop into a franchise point guard.

Gaddy is a caretaker at PG. He’s got good size and he’s alot tougher and stronger than he was as a Fr. He was too weak to be real effective his 1st year, but he’s a smooth operator who’s gotten more quick and athletic with the added strength he’s gotten. He’s still not overly strong or tough, but he’s better than he was. He’s also become a threat to stick the open jumper. I think Gaddy is a pure PG with a smooth game and a knack for playing the game under control and keeping mistakes to a minimum, but he’s also not all that aggressive either. He’s not a scorer. If I had to think of a comparison for Gaddy for the NBA, he reminds me of Eric Snow.

Agree with ^^^. Player that came to my mind though is a Charlie Ward/Anthony Johnson (J.Kidd’s backup) type player. As a knick fan, loved Charlie Ward’s steady play, and feel Gaddy is in a similar mold.

I love the comp to eric snow, but I think he has work to do as a defender in that regard. I think these next two years will say a lot about where he stands as a prospect. Im interpreting the consensus to be that he is an NBA backup for sure, with some untapped potential that could create a measure of growth. That said, I would be shocked if he was ever a key starter on a title team. As a husky fan he is sure fun to watch though.
