Sixers looking every bit as good as Minnesota right now.  Unimpressed with Wiggins.  Towns and Okafor basically a stalemate.  Lavine again failing to assert himself.  Noel is the xfactor that Minnesota doesn’t have.

Minny needs better coaching.  Starting to appreciate Nerlens Noel Factor.

Towns and Wiggins disappeared.  Real impressed by Dieng.  Dude is solid in the paint.  Lavine showed some of that athleticism but its a fine line whether Rubio is holding Lavine back, I’d say Lavine needs to be more involved.  Minny is just too young right now.

Noel and the Sixers length is doing well.  But Okafor wasn’t getting much done against Dieng.  Real impressed with Dieng.

Wehre did Towns and Wiggins go?  Straight up disappeared.

KG classic vet move.  Starts playing dirty against young Jakarr Sampson who then gets all excited and in his face.  This gets KG fired up against young players and he gives the kids a trash-talking lesson.

Towns has 4 fouls.  Will post numbers but so far in their two matchups Okafor plays far better than Twons and Okafor demands double teams.  Sixers really need to learn how to keep moving and not just watch Jahlil.  They need guys to cut to the rim as soon as Okafor gets doubled.

KG reminds me of Melo in that they have too much admiration for the guys they know are better than them, and he gets a little too cocky against guys he knows he is better than.  Having said that, I like the trash-talk.  Old man fire.

KG effect fizzles just like his game.  Let’s see how the 4th quarter goes.

Richuan Holmes and Gorgui Deng look very good.  I feel like Richuan Holmes needs to spend his summer with Draymond Green because I think he can develop and become a Draymond type player, he has the build.  Right nowyou know he is young and happy to be in the NBA, now he needs to establish himself because he has the skill, can even shoot it from the outside.

Having said that, let’s see how the 4th quarter goes, but the "star" Andrew Wiggins has been really disappointing so far.  Getting tired of these young athletic guys that dont’ know how to just dominate with their mind.  Wiggins played hard like four trips down teh court so far.  Wiggins, Anthony Davis, when are these guys gonna get taht Kobe-MJ mentality and just go out there and drop 60.

Love the running blog. You should make it your thing. Richaun Holmes is officially my favorite Sixer. I have really enjoyed these last six games(3-3)

I’ve been following this site much more closely since excited by the Sixers process to rebuild which I like the idea of, not sure yet if I’m all in on it, but I def like the idea.

Minnesota (who finished worse than the much maligned Sixers each of the past two years), are in a similar position as the Sixers, and they have a lot of players I guess I scouted more than I would because my home Squad was tanking.  So I was excited to see Wiggins, Lavine, Towns etc.  So this game more than others was real exciting to me, and it should be for a lot of the fans on this site.  Just like I look forward to Lakers-Bucks games etc.  These are teh teams with teh young talent.

Anyway, Sixers play hard, I think its the fandom that helps them push through, really like Ish Smith and TJ McConnell at the PG.  Bigmen are doing excellent.  I think Landry is starting to feel Philly work-hard vibe.

Everyone knows, Philly is the best city in the world to play in when you’re good.  Fans are the most intense no doubt.  Hopefully Embiid Saric and either Ingram or Simmons add to the excitement next year baby.

Well Sixers def played harder.  Ish Smith and Carl Landry and Richuan Holmes all playing well.

Ish Smith thoroughly outplayed Ricky Rubio.  Rubio holds the team back because he can’t play with energy.

Wiggins, the Sixers have teh length to shut him down.  He is the same player he was in college.  His skills translate.  Streamline to the hole and do that spin move, and hit a jumper which is nowhere near consistent enough.

Sixers defense balled out, it was a block party great help defense with Jahlilon the bench.  Towns again, didn’t contribute much.

Minnesota’s Trio that everyone is so big on, I think has a ton of maturing to do.  They better hope they are in position to draft Kris Dunn, thats who they’ll need.

Sixers length is no joke.  Great moves by adding Ish Smith and Landry.  Noel adds something when he’s on the floor.  And Okafor is a great unsung weapon…when you need some buckets go ahead and stick in Okafor.

Sorry Minnesota, y’all got some maturing to do.  And Wiggins will never be a top 3 player in this league with his mentality.  Towns might be a top 3 bigman, but I see Towns peak as a Pau Gasol type.

Of course they need to mature, they can’t even legally buy a drink yet. I don’t think nitpicking one of their worse games of the season and evaluating them on it is really fair, especially considering how well they’ve played the rest of the season. Towns is looking like he could be an All-Star next year, and Wiggins has been scoring in bunches (though his rebounding and assist numbers aren’t near stellar). I think they just need a point guard who fits better than Rubio, they don’t necessarily need superstar talent or a top pick to fill that spot.

a long rangy defender that can drive and get his own buckets but also hit the shooters would help.  team doesn’t have many shooters.  Although they’re a team with budding talent i can totally understand their record.

If they can somehow draft Kris Dunn it would be perfect for them. What they dont’ have, is someone who isn’t afraid to just dominate.

Sorry man, not impressed by Wiggins at all.  He coasts too much.  He is not an alpha-dog.  He needs to demand the ball and take over games, but he doesn’t have the ball-handling even as a "2-guard" to be able to do that.  He is nowhere near Kobe-MJ-Lebron skill-wise, and definitely not mentally.  Next superstar, nah.

Towns is going to be an excellent player.  I think all-star next year is rushing it but will be a multiple all-star.  Towns again unless things change, will suffer by the program.  Program needs to establish him and get him buckets.

Also, a little concerned that he only developed a back to the basket game once in college, and his HS game was more or less facing the bucket.  That detracts from him as a bigman. He’s a great shooting stretch big, but he has to get more comfortable in the paint banging against the big boys.  Right now, he definitely is the pup of the Kentucky Bigs….

Demarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Nerlens Noel, Julius Randle, and Karl Towns.

Yeah I was at the game. It was live in there.. I am for my Sixers tanking, but the Wolves stunk. of course I was cheering for Lavine, but Ish played great and Landry stepped up.. Wolves have no aggression. Rubio needs to get outta there. Lavine needs to be more aggressive. Wiggins and Towns are really soft players.

I know Sixers fans are Desperate for wins….. but Brett Brown used Ish Smith & Carl Landry to win that game at the expense of Okafor – who sat out the Entire 4th qtr….. And once again, Noel & Okafor did not even attempt to play together…..

I do not understand what Phila is doing…. It seems that the GM & the Coach are acting Completely independent of one another…… If you are "Rebuilding" than rebuild! Does the GM even talk to the coach??? Does the coach understand what the GM wants him to accomplish in year 3 of their "process"…..

Seems like the answer is a resounding "NO" …… Ish Smith was necessary b/c you needed an NBA level pg to develop Noel & Okafor….. but why is Ish shooting so much? & why in the World is Carl Landry playing over Jahlil Okafor???

Phila will have Embiid, Saric & at least 3 (& possibly 4) 1st round picks joing the team next fall…. The goal this year should be to see what you have w/ Okafor, Noel & Staukus….. If they can play together, if they can play at all…

Beating a young, up & coming Minnesota team that DOES commit to their youth means Nothing….. The first time these 2 teams played, Okafor ate Towns alive 1 v 1…..

Okafor tweaked his knee about 10 days ago. Missed two games and is just working his way back into the starting lineup. This was the first game back in the starting lineup. I’m not sure if Okafor is on a minutes restriction but the reason Landry was in there is because he was lights out last night. You want him to rebuild but only if they play all the young guys all the time…you ain’t no GM brother

i don’t understand why you’d disagree Totally with everything I said.  I was wondering the same, when are our starters going to come back in the game with Towns in there second half of fourth.

Noel was a late addition and Okafor cruised. Reason is, Landry and Holmes were doing their thing.  Sometimes you just go with what works.  It was one game, I don’t think this at all means the team isn’t committed to developing Okafor or trusts him late in games.

Clearly Ish Smith destroyed Ricky Rubio.  That was great to watch.

& I don’t want to come off as insensitive….. Okafor scored 23 pts 2 nights ago against the Clippers…. & played the full 2 games before that…. so he was not injured…..

Ish has played great & reinvigorated Noel & I’m happy for you Sixers fans that you have something to root for….

My criticism is of the coach….. he is too focused on winning one game here & one game there…. Brown seems to have Zero long term vision….

I watched many Sixers games this year & their guard play was horrific…. but you still need to see if Noel & Okafor can play together…. The opening game in Boston, the came out & Dominated Boston’s front court & Brown immediately went away from it & it’s clear has no interest in even trying to play them together…

That has to be your main goal…. Embiid & Saric will definitely be w/ your team next year…. You might have Simmons too…. So it’s in Phila’s best interest to take this entire year & discover if Noel & Okafor can play together…. It’s a shame Hinkie did not Draft Porzingus b/c Noel & Porzingus fit together…..

Anyway, my only point was the Sixers & their fans have suffered, you have a Ton of Lotteyr picks & Blue Chip prospects coming, stay the course, develop these prospects, a win gained b/c Ish Smith & Carl Landry played well means little b/c neither man is part of the team’s long term plans…..

Oh where to start with my Wolves

Finally somebody who sees it the way I do with regards to Rubio. He’s the same player he was as a rookie. He plays with great energy, he runs an offense, but the intangibles HAVE to be elite for him to be a passable player because he just can’t hit a shot. He’s not a great defender, he’s okay but he’s nowhere near as good as many think he is.

He’s not a top-20 PG in the NBA and I would loooove to get Dunn in the draft.

Towns has been really really good in the last month or so but he stuck Saturday night against the Bucks and didn’t do much tonight. He’s been more good than bad so out of the list of things to worry about for the Wolves, he’s about the last one.

Wiggins needs to develop a jumpshot. He gets to the FT line like crazy and his athleticism gives him an edge, but until he starts doing more than just scoring, he won’t break into elite territory. I think he can, but he’s not there yet. No reason he can’t average 5-7 rebounds a game, dude is too long and athletic to average 3 rebounds a game.

LaVine is in a big time funk the last couple of weeks. He started the year very well but is really struggling lately. Think I saw somehwere over the last like seven games, he’s played 150 some odd minutes and his plus/minus is minus 84. I get that a lot goes into that, but thats scary bad. Not panicking on him, but I’ve stuck to the notion that he’s best set as a Jamal Crawford type, more than a true star.

Dieng, Shabbazz and Bjelica have all had moments where they look like nice pieces and other times not so much.

The biggest problem with the team right now is that it just doesn’t have any shooting. Having Rubio and Wiggins on the floor makes it difficult because that means your SG and your PF almost HAVE to be good shooters, which the Wolves just don’t have. Martin was supposed to be that, but he’s been off this year and hasn’t played within any sort of structure at all.

Mitchell is a stop-gap head coach. Good for now as the team is building, but he’s got a shelf-life. Instill defense into the young core, which I think he has…somewhat.

Looking at these teams i really wonder how long they can keep relying on the upcoming draft, year after year.. its a never ending story of misery.

Philly need to give Brett Brown a chance, get him some NBA players and see what he can do before he burns himself out.

I think Sixers are done tanking after this year.  Anything good that comes out of the draft after will be fine.  You’ve seen just with the insertion of Carl Landry and Ish Smith how much better this team is playing.  Next year is completely different.

Minnesota is just bad.  Western Conference ain’t even that good. Minnesota needs some guys to just dominate, PG would definitely help.  they could very well be in position to get Dunn.  I think Dunn helps them a lot more than Murray.

Between this year and next year, Josh Jackson is the best player coming out. Not encouraging a tank but if they were to pick, next year would have been a better year for them to tank considering the talent coming out even outside of JJ.
