PlatypusParticipantWhen (Amare’) Stoudemire becomes official, it would end the five-year era of David Lee, but set up a possibility of a sign-and-trade to add another piece. There’s been rumors of a three-way trade talk between Golden State, Minnesota and the Knicks where Lee winds up with the Timberwolves, Monta Ellis comes to the Knicks and Al Jefferson goes to Golden State. Lee visited Minnesota yesterday and it has only $7 million in cap room, meaning he’d want a sign-and-trade.

PlatypusParticipantthey signed Darko, Pekovic so adding another center (Love either moves to center or Lee), its the free agency of the center after the draft of the small forwards

bkballerParticipantNo chance Knicks throw Chandler into the deal…monta might be the most overrated player in the NBA I don’t want him anywhere near the Knicks.

burningfloodParticipantIt’s not what you want, bkballer, but what the Knicks want. They don’t have to do a sign and trade. Apparently, they want to do a sign and trade because they want Ellis, even if you consider him an overrated player.
The Warriors don’t need Jefferson, a guy who can’t really play in an uptempo system and has a monster contract. It doesn’t help that his trade value is almost zero at this point, given that Kahn’s been trying to whore him out to any team who wants him. Jefferson’s not a center, but a PF. The Warriors have Randolph, Wright, and Udoh who they just drafted at that position. They need a SF, since they only have Reggie Williams and Azubuike, and Azubuike is coming off of major surgery and is a big question mark at this point.
Chandler is an SF. If the Knicks want Monta, they have to give something the Warriors want, an SF.
BTW, Monta’s not the most overrated player in the league. That’d be Al Jefferson. How many winning teams has he been on?

Charlie SheenParticipantMonta is one of the most exciting players in the league and will do good in New York, but if the Knicks throw in Chandler then Randolph is coming to New York becasue they’re givin up Lee and Chandler only for Ellis no way add Randolph or Morrow and thats a good deal

bkballerParticipantJefferson has been on as many winning teams as monta btw. Fact is Warriors want to dump monta and his contract probably more than the Knicks want monta. Chandler is a young talented SF with botloads of potential still on his rookie contract i highly doubt he gets included in a trade thats just a salary dump for the other team.

warriorlifeParticipantThe warriors are not trading ellis for jefferson.

theEDGEParticipantWhy don’t the add the Spurs(Tony Parker) instead of the Warriors since Stoudamire already talked to him.
Jefferson could be the Center next Duncan or in a couple years time his replacement so the deal would be as this.Wolves get David Lee from Knicks
Spurs get Al Jefferson from Wolves
Knicks get Tony Parker from Spurs
Jefferson and Parker both make around 12 a year and Lee at max would be around 11.6 according to ESPN.

burningfloodParticipantUm, bkballer, Monta was on the Warriors during the 06-08 years, when the Warriors made the playoffs or had a winning record. He wasn’t as big of a factor in 06-07, during the playoff run where the Warriors beat the Mavs, but he averaged 20 points per game in 07-08, when the Warriors were 48-34. So…Monta has played more winning basketball than the vastly overrated Al Jefferson.
According to Warriors management, Monta is not on the block unless there’s a great deal for him. Jefferson is not a great deal either in terms of salary dumping, in terms of defense, or in terms of playing in the run and gun system. Jefferson would fit just as well with the Warriors as Brand fit with the 76ers…bad, bad idea.
Biedrins is more likely to be traded than Monta. Salary dumping, not bad contract taking, is the way that this front office seems to be headed (see: Maggette, Crawford, Jackson)
If you look at last year’s record, Monta played with about six or seven healthy players on the roster, three of which were D-leaguers…Jefferson, with a healthier roster, failed to match that record.

bkb77ParticipantThe edge I likeyour trade proposal but I question if Spurs want Jefferson who is not a defensive player & I dont know how well he would mesh with pops team but It does look good, it would be a win, win, win situations if happend

bkballerParticipantIf somehow curry is involved I’d love a Beidrins for Lee trade.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantYeah, nobody’s touching Steph, but Eddy Curry’s expiring contract does make him a valuable piece.
