I don’t get why people are hating on the Joel Anthony being on the ballot.  Everyone complains that NBA players should play more defence, and when you have a guy that excels in playing D, people hate on the fact that he’s getting all star votes.  Make up your minds people.

Joel Anthony "excels" at defense? I don’t know your definition of being a dominant post defender, but a guy averaging 3 rpg and 1 bpg for his career? Does that make Tyson Chandler incredible at D and Dwight Howard godly?

There is a HUGE difference between putting up stats and being a very good defender.  By your estimations, Kendrick Perkins, Tony Allen, and Shane Battier are all terrible defenders because they don’t average a ridiculous amount of rebounds, steals, and blocks.

Also, by your estimations, the 2010-2011 combo of Kevin Love and Darko Milicic was the best defensive front court because Love averaged 15rpg and Milicic average 2bpg.

I’m fine with Joel Anthony getting some love. I’m just not feeling him getting MORE love then Roy Hibbert, Spencer Hawes, Greg Monroe, Andrew Bogut & Anderson Varejao, all of whom have more of a case then him.

Also agree with Dwight. The Jazz are a surprise team in the west, Al Jefferson is having another good year, and he’s not anywhere to be found. I sure hope the coaches vote him or Marc Gasol in as the backup.

I know there is a lot of great defense that the stats don’t show, but c’mon, Joel Anthony? I thought it was well known you don’t want that guy as your starting center. He’s a solid player, but I could probably name 10 better defensive centers than him meaning he doesn’t "excel".

Really? Joel Anthony, he does not in any shape way or form deserve any All-Star votes. He’s a good player that does his job, but it is blasphemous that people are fine with him getting votes. He is getting 3 points and 4 boards a game. I mean really now? This is ridiculous. Just because he plays on a team with Lebron and Wade all of these bandwagoners are voting for him. Al Jefferson should get more votes than everyone but Bynum. He is getting 18 and 9 in just 33 minutes a game, and should make the teram as a reserve if the Jazz continue to win.

I’m glad they only let the fans pick the starters, cause this is a popularity contest more than a game for the best players.
