The infamous Chris Webber timeout against Carolina in New Orleans.  I was in the 5th grade and loved the fab five, the baggy shorts, black shots, the swagger.  Jalen rose just did a bit on sports center breaking down the play.  Chris Webber went onto have a have a very good NBA career with the wizards and Kong’s and is a good broadcaster.  That play is something he will never be able to live down.  I believe he still carries grief and is embarrassed.  He’s alienated himself from the other fab five members and the university.  I believe Chris Webber should finally let this go and embrace the brothers he played with in Ann Arbor.  What do you guys think?

As far as Chris alienating himself from the other fab five members and the university, it goes much deeper than the timeout. The reason the banners were taken down is primarily because of him and the school went as far as to basically disown those fab five teams. There is real animosity there that hasn’t been resolved, although I agree it would probably be mutually beneficial for all sides to bury the hatchet at this point.

However, when you look at Webber’s overall career and impact on the game, it’s an absolute injustice that he continually gets passed up for the HOF every year.

He has talked a few times on how he wants to welcome the Fab Five and Coach Steve Fischer back into Michigan. UM has purposely seperated themselves from them and the scandel.

But, if Beilein can continue to have more success at UM and give them B10 and Tourny wins, UM will focus less on their past and more on their present teams.

    Google: Beilein Fab Five

counter culture / inner city Revolution! I can not even do it justice how those 5 freshman captured the Imagination of my Entire generation – I was a senior in High School

And just a few years earlier UNLV had taken the country by Storm & the Fab 5 felt like UNLV 2.0 but only Bigger b/c Freshman playing Big minutes back tehn was Uncommon – 5 freshman Starting & Winning was Unheard of!

The Black Sox, the Baggy Shorts, the Trash Talk – it felt like Suburban America was being introduced to Our World in the Inner City for the 1st time & it felt great b/c Most of America LOVED Us

And I Us b/c it Really felt like these Michigan kids represented all of us in the inner city & back then you just did Not see that very often on the Main TV channels
