This is by no means a prediction, or even a guess, but a best case scenario for the 76ers next offseason. As of now, the sixers have Okafor, Embiid, and Noel. Hopefully Saric comes over next season. There are no guards of the future on the team right now, and the draft is very light on pgs next year. Best answer? Free agency.

I wouldn’t say its a stretch to say the sixers will have a top three pick next season, along with three other first round picks. Add that to the three bigs we currently have and Saric coming over, there is a (albeit small) chance we could lure over a big free agent or two.

Ideally, the sixers can somehow sign Damian Lillard. Its no secret that the sixers have a ton of cap space. With the west strong as is, and the Blazers more than likely losing Aldridge, it wouldn’t be shocking if Lillard wants out as well. At some point, some Western conference players have to realize they have a better chance to win in the much weaker East. If, and a big if, Okafor can have a good year and Embiid stays healthy, it could be beneficial for him. Lillard is a free agent next season, so he could very well leave Portland.

    A potential starting five of:

    PG: Lillard

SG: build through draft, play Covington or Wroten, or even have Lillard convince Bradley Beal come over (more of a longshot than Lillard, but he’s a free agent as well)

SF: Draft Ben Simmons or Jaylen Brown with a top 3 pick

    PF: Joel Embiid

    C: Jahlil Okafor

Add in Noel and Saric coming off the bench, and they could potentially be a threat in the East. Again, I realize how much of a longshot this all is. By no means is this a prediction, or even a decent chance of happening. Just an idea.

What people don’t understand is that there are SOOOO many good PG’s in the NBA.

It is far easier to sign/trade for one than draft a PG.

I’m pretty sure Noel could be traded to Nuggets for Lawson (27 yrs old, fast, good shooter), as an example.

Hell, if RJ Hunter has a good shooting year and looks to be the next Klay Thompson, a Noel for Hunter swap could be in play.

    Lillard/Hunter/Simmons/Okafor/Embiid has potential.

Also, a guy like Wes Matthews can be had.  They can let him recover and throw a front loaded deal at him.  Imagine Lillard/Matthews launching 3’s and Embiid/Okafor patrolling the paint.
