Are Dario Saric and Rudy Fernandez really the best international players outside the NBA ?

Saric has the potential, but is no where near currently. I am a fan of Rudy’s game, however, there are still a handful of players that I would pick before him, like Juan Carlos Navarro, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Milos Teodosic, Ante Tomic, Vassilis Spanoulis, or even his teamate Sergio Rodriguez.

These players show much more leadership and determination in my opinion. I follow international basketball much more than NBA, it just suprised me the choice of the GMs. Just a little thought to share.

I think it’s a matter of opinion. There’s no way I would put Sergio Rodriguez in a top 5 list. I do believe Rudy, Teodosic and Spanoulis belong there, probably Marcelinho Huertas (big fan of his game). Navarro is debatable, still solid but a few years ago he was really elite in Europe. There are a lot of really good players in Europe and not everyone gets the exposure…

I think if you follow the GM survey you will find in most cases they are answering a different question than the asked it is usually the best international player outside the NBA who can come and succeed in the NBA ,there is a reason why Mario Hezonja received a vote ,also Rubio was the GMs vote b4 he joined the NBA if I remember correctly

Very interesting as always, I see Kyle Korver got the old Ray Allen best player off the ball award.

One noticeable thing was Steve Blake as 2nd on current players who would make best coach, might be worth watching a few years down the line when Blake’s career winds down.

Joakim Noah is a great defender, but I don’t think he’s the best interior defender in the NBA.

I’m also surprised that Paul George didn’t get more votes as a perimeter defender. I thought he was arguably the best perimeter defender in the NBA last season.
