Here is my mock draft with comments per pick
1) Cleveland - Perry Jones, SF, Baylor
Why? Jones provides a wing scorer/defender/building block that the Cavs desperately need
2) Sacramento - Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke
Why? Moves Reke to the 2 and Irving can provide a complimentary backcourt mate
3) Minnesota - Enes Kanter, C, Turkey
Why? Makes the T'Wolves extremely big and deadly on the frontline
4) Washington - Terrence Jones, SF, Kentucky
Why? The trio of Josh Howard, Al Thornton, and Rashard Lewis is both aging and ineffective
5) New Jersey - Jared Sullinger, PF, Ohio State
Why? Sullinger and Lopez at the 4 and the 5 could prove to be lethal
6) Detroit - Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky
Why? Pistons can slide Stuckey to the 2 and Knight brings premier athleticism and outside shooting
7) LA Clippers - Harrison Barnes, SF, North Carolina
Why? Barnes has been unimpressive this year but brings a ton of athleticism and skill to the Clippers
8) Toronto- Derrick Williams, SF/PF, Arizona
Why? Can step in right away with his NBA ready outside shot and rebounding habit
9) Philadelphia - Donatas Motiejunas, PF, Lithuania
Why? Provides the Sixers with a big time shooter from the 4/5 spot
10) Charlotte - Jonas Valanciunas, C, Lithuania
Why? Charlotte desperately needs some sort of presence offensively at the 5 spot
11) Golden State - Alec Burks, SG, Colorado
Why? Something tells me Ellis will be gone soon and Burks can step in right away with his size and provide a scoring boost
12) Phoenix - Marcus Morris, SF, Kansas
Why? Grant Hill's heir apparent now that Earl Clark is gone
13) Memphis - Trey Thompkins, PF, Georgia
Why? Can backup both Randolph or Gasol. Brings size to the bench
14) Houston - Jordan Williams, PF/C, Maryland
Why? With Yao's career presumably over, the Rockets need a C for the future
15) Milwaukee - Kyle Singler, SF, Duke
Why? The Bucks cant put points on the board and its largely in part to their lack of wing scorers
16) Indiana - Josh Selby, PG/SG, Kansas
Why? Brings a ridiculous amount of scoring to the Pacers bench. Future 6th man of the year?
17) Portland - Nolan Smith, PG, Duke
Why? This heady veteran can replace Andre Miller when the vet's career comes to a close
18) Denver - Tobias Harris, SF, Tennessee
Why? Potential is off the hook for this young, bouncy 3 man
19) New Orleans - Tristan Thompson, PF, Texas
Why? Brings youth, length, and size to the Hornets bench
20) New York - Kemba Walker, PG, UCONN
Why? Walker slides all the way to 20 and instantly becomes one of the best backup PG's in the league
21) Atlanta - Tyler Honeycutt, SG/SF, UCLA
Why? I think Honeycutt has the potential to upend Marvin Williams as the Hawks starting 3 if he can gain some weight
22) Oklahoma City - Jan Vesely, SF, Czech Republic
Why? The Thunder need a backup 3 for Durant
23) Utah - LaceDarius Dunn, SG, Baylor
Why? Offers a team the ability to put points on the board in a hurry
24) Orlando - Kawhi Leonard, SF, San Diego State
Why? Can bring Mickael Pietrus like numbers off the bench for the Magic
25) Chicago - Jimmer Fredette, SG, BYU
Why? A decent consolation prize if the Bulls cant land OJ Mayo
26) LA Lakers - CJ Leslie, SF, NC State
Why? Both Barnes and Artest are aging and decreasing in effectiveness
27) Dallas - Markieff Morris, PF, Kansas
Why? The Mavs could use a young banger who can backup the 4 and the 5 spots
28) Boston - Jordan Hamilton, SF, Texas
Why? Can replace Pierce in the starting lineup in a few seasons
29) Miami - Rick Jackson, PF, Syracuse
Why? In the event Haslem never returns to be the same player, Jackson fills that void
30) San Antonio - Kenneth Faried, PF, Morehead State
Why? The perfect type of player to fit in to the Spurs 2nd team; a willing banger in a McDyess mold
I think the Knicks would take Kemba Walker over Jimmer Fredette, but I hope Jimmer ends up with the Knicks. He's from Glen Falls, NY so he probably grew up a Knicks fan. He's my favorite player in the NCAA this year and I think he would be a perfect fit.
Btw, I think he'll want to play PG in the NBA. He said on SportsCenter last night that he's trying to prove that he can set up his teammates, not just himself so he can play PG when he gets drafted
ferdette or walker during the draft ill be a happy camper but i rather have walker as a steal
"Why? The Bucks cant put points on the board and its largely in part to their lack of wing scorers"
What would Kyle Singler add that John Salmons, Corey Maggette, Carlos Delfino, and Chris Douglas-Roberts do not? They also already have a Kyle Singler type in Ersan Ilyasova.
"11) Golden State - Alec Burks, SG, Colorado Why? Something tells me Ellis will be gone soon and Burks can step in right away with his size and provide a scoring boost"
Why would Golden State want to move Monta Ellis if it results in them being in a spot where they replace him with a clearly inferior rookie replacement? There is a lot to dislike about GS, but it makes little sense to take even more steps back.
"12) Phoenix - Marcus Morris, SF, Kansas Why? Grant Hill's heir apparent now that Earl Clark is gone"
First, Morris isn't a SF. Second, how many SFs do you think Phoenix needs?
A couple things...
Why would NJ and LA clips pick players at positions they picked at last year
I think Phoenix picks Selby if he is on the board
Favors might not be in New Jersey for long, and even if he stays a team cannot simply open a position to a guy who isn't ready and not a sure thing to be ready.
Harrison Barnes is a dramatically better prospect than Aminu.
You forgot McCamey...hes defintiely going first round.
Portland, Atlanta and Miami would all make sense for him.
Miami doesn't have a 1st rounder this year do they?
Whatever is telling you is likely wrong, and we dont need a scoring boost. We need a toughness boost
I think Nolan Smith is too high
The warriors are 55-109 in the past 2 seasons, its time they ship out Monta
A lot can happen between now and the draft, but I think Fredette may have played himself a little higher than 25. I think Utah would be a good fit for him and I like Dunn, but I don't see him getting drafted ahead of Fredette.
Whats funny, is no one has been more disapointed in Barnes than me, but he looks like a rock solid steal for the Clippers at #7.
I like your mock overall......
Do you know that you did not have to type it you could have posted the link? LOL
Portland-I cannot see them taking another PG/SG when they are very deep at those 2 spots. They just drafted Elliot Williams & Armon Johnson although I do not seeing E-Will as being a long term prospect.
I don't like the fit of a sf/pf for Toronto. We have young guys DeRozan, Weems, and Kleiza who all play sf and Johnson, Davis, and maybe Bargnani who play pf. I think the Raptors need a true pg, a dynamic sg/sf combo, or a true center in the draft.
Good mock but a few issues
Why would the Spurs need another undersized power forward when they already have Dejaun Blair?
Marcus Morris will not ever replace Grant Hill two completly different positions/ players
Wait so New Jersey drafts Sullinger a year after drafting Favours
The Raptors really do not need another sf or pf player
Even though Kanter would be a good pick for Minnesota you forgot how much Kahn loves his Darko
why isnt Jamal Crawford first? I mean hes like Jordan and Larry Bird combined, hes in the player pool :o
Do you think an Irving / Evans backcourt would actually work? Irving is a tremendous PG who gets the ball to the right spot at the right time.. but until Evans fixes his J he'l still need to pound the ball a few times after receiving it before he can drive to create for either himself or others. Obviously, talking about the team as a whole, Irving would be a great pickup but I dont see how the combo quite fits.
Also, their size might bring about some problems on D against teams with bigger guards. Tyreke cant contain the leagues better 2's.
What you think?
16) Indiana - Josh Selby, PG/SG, Kansas
"Why? Brings a ridiculous amount of scoring to the Pacers bench. Future 6th man of the year?"
I like him there, but won't he take away from the production of Granger since he is a score first guard?
What happens to T.J. Ford?
With traded picks involved then based on the draft order used, the following would occur:
The Grizzlies' pick (13th) would go to the T'Wolves.
The Hornets' pick (19th) would go to the Blazers.
The Jazz's pick (23rd) would go to the T'Wolves.
The Magic's pick (24th) would go to the Suns.
The Heat's pick (29th) would go to the Raptors.
The Rockets have options to swap picks with the Knicks, seems very unlikely at this point.
There are more picks that could move around as well, but depends on the final standings. One to keep an eye on: if the Timberwolves finish as the 11th worst team, then their pick would go to the Clippers.
Where are my Nets picks? I thought we had multiple 1st round picks
Sacramento - Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke
yes kings needs pg to be tyreke backcourt mate, but since tyreke can't shoot outside, much better if they draft pg who can shoot outside to compliment tyreke game. kyrie irving is real pg but hes not a shooter, both tyreke and irving needs the ball on their hands to be effective, thats why i do think brandon knight is better backcourt mate to tyreke evans.
