How did the lakers get their pick back I thought they owed phx the pick this year. I thought since phx didn’t get the pick this draft they would get it the following year but….

    phx owns:
2015 first round draft pick from L.A. Lakers
    L.A. Lakers’ 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-5 in 2015, 1-3 in 2016 or 1-3 in 2017 or unprotected in 2018 [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]
This is a strong draft for such a huge slip up why not have the right to attain the pick every year?

Also the sixers gave up to young good players in the howard trade true, but they were sure they were going to be the up & coming force in the east and make the playoffs. So why didn’t Orlando make the pick they got from the sixers a top 5 or top 3 protected pick they had how Howard and had the leverage but now they have a pick which is lottery protected heavily for the next couple of years.Orlando knew they were in for a rebuild the pelicans had the sixers trade their top player and the sixers secured thereself a top 5 pick( they should have got a unprotected pick tho because jru is proven player who isn’t entering free agency any time soon). Some one tell me why the magic slipped up knowing the sixers would either boom or bust and a top 5 pick would be great asset for the magic or how the hell did phx not secure 2014 from the lakers ?

You have so many questions, thats not 2 questions. Here is what you need to do, try to research the new CBA of nba and nbpa. Details are there. I think you’re either a laker hater or just plain ignorant about nba

PHX got their pick in this draft. CLE got MIA’s first round pick, but held the option to switch that pick with LAL if it fell outside of the lottery. So, when the Lakers made the playoffs the Cavs got their pick and PHX wound up with MIA’s pick.

Thanks wrect and @brent nothing of which I said had anything to do with the new cba. I didn’t mention signing players or trading for players.Everyteam gets a draft pick so I just was curious about the draft picks ownership and protection .Im a laker fan but being as though that’s my all time fav team and im a big fan of the nba I pick one team out of each division to root for but I root for both GS and LAL as I said L.A is my all time fav team.
