Quick question, if LeBron was

Quick question, if LeBron was to break the scoring record and get both 10k rebounds and assists(which he is on pace to do) plus win 2-3 more rings, where would he end up when it's all said and done?

#2. Even if he does

#2. Even if he does accomplish this, I still don't see him getting 6+ rings to surpass Jordan. Plus Jordan did his damage with fewer seasons than most stars because of the early retirements.

i changed a few things since

i changed a few things since i last posted it a few months ago mostly moving up current players like carmelo dwight howard lebron and chris paul because of what they have accomplished and they have all played just as many years as guys like bill walton and david thompson who i moved down slightly because of many of their years being affected by injuries

yes but talent wise, I think

yes but talent wise, I think he should already be much higher. When you say top 100 players ever, are you going based on accomplishment, experience, talent, character, all of that? or just pure top 100 on how good the player is?

a mix i go by how many years

a mix i go by how many years they played total and how many good years they had but also look at potential some which is why david thompson is ahead of carmelo and dwight howard and chris paul and others because he had that top 20-25 potential and dont worry lebron will move up but not yet

elgin baylor is too high.

elgin baylor is too high. Malone, duncan, Olajuwon and west shoudl all be ahead of him imo. Of course take that from me being a person who never watched his career in person but is basing it on studying the history of the game.

Also Chris Paul should be higher. I wouldnt put dwight ahead of him.

I think gary payton and clyde drexler both should be ahead of reggie miller.

Is it just me or is Chris

Is it just me or is Chris Paul too low? He's got a career assist/turnover ratio that hasn't been seen since Magic and John Stockton. It's more amazing that he's played majority of his career without a superstar or hall of hamer on his team

I got Kidd over Stockton

Yes I know Stock is the all-time steals and assist leader, but Kidd is also number 2 in both of those categories. Not to mention Kidd led a struggling franchise to two consecutive NBA Finals and was instrumental in helping Dallas and Dirk win their first. Stockton is great, but switch he and Kidd and Stockton could have never led that nets team to the finals.

Overall, after looking at it

Overall, after looking at it a few times, its a good list. Ray Allen I think is low at 80. Id have him at least somewhere in the 60's, hes the all time leader in 3's

Your love for the ABA is

Your love for the ABA is evident. Not only does your name show this, but I also believe your list does too. So, question #1, does this include time in the ABA as well? Because if it does, you've got the Doc way too low, but if it doesn't then Artis is way too high.

Zelmo shouldn't be on the list either way.... your Utah Stars love is definitely getting in the way of objectivity here.

Also, I'm the biggest Mailman fan alive, but Duncan and Hakeem were both better. Hakeem is #9 on my list after the obvious first 7 and Duncan. Hakeem is better than Shaq and Kobe. But, why on earth would you put Elgin above Karl? No idea why you would do that.

No way I put Kidd above Stockton. No way.

Garnett could be about 10 spots higher.

well i was never much of a

well i was never much of a julius erving fan he was very good but also overated in my opinion david thompson should have won the aba dunk contest and artis gilmore has the highest field goal percentage alltime and is one of few players to get 40 rebounds in a game and was one of the strongest players ever his one flaw was he was to nice and didnt play with the toughness he should have and zelmo should be in the hof i do appreciate your feedback

Decent list but..

It boggles my mind that you have Duncan and Olajuwon at 12 and 13, yet you have Karl Malone at 11... Duncan and Olajuwon would eat Malone`s food, not only that they both have more titles (Hakeem 2 and Duncan 4). There`s no way Isaiah Thomas should be ranked behind Kidd or Stockton (I don`t care if he is the career leader in Assists). But what really hurts my feelings is that you have Elvin Hayes at 21 and Kevin Mchale at 45.. C`mon son! Do some research, learn the history of the game.

good fun to debate, so here's

good fun to debate, so here's my two cents:

how is bill russell only number 5?!?!?!?

the dude has eleven rings. ELEVEN. he matched up and beat wilt continuously, and he is potentially the greatest defensive player of all time.

To me, he's number 2, right behind MJ.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know you're asking the OP, but my top 8 All-Time list is pretty similar (I have Russell #5 too) so I figured I'd give it my best shot to answer.

He did match up with Wilt but his team success doesn't necessarily mean he was better than Wilt. The Warrior teams that Wilt played on were nowhere near the caliber of Russell's Celtics, when Wilt finally played for a good team with the 76ers and later the Lakers he proved that he could be a winner and play a team game too.

Eleven rings is very impressive no doubt, but you have to keep in mind that he did that during an era with 8 to 12 teams. Kareem won his 6 during an era with 17-23 teams, Magic won 5 during an era of 22-23 teams, MJ won 6 during an era of 27-29 teams and Kobe has won 5 during an era of 29-30 teams. IMO it's simple math, but it's more difficult to win multiple championships in more recents generations.

Yeah, Russell is arguably the best defensive player in NBA history, and that's pretty much the reason he is on most top 5 lists to begin with. His offensive game was just pretty good. If he was a more effective offensive center capable of 20+ PPG and close to 50 FG% he probably would be #2 on my list too.

I'd agree with the sentiment

I'd agree with the sentiment that Bill Russell is behind Jordan. He's the only person who could make a case for even being number one, though I wouldn't list him as such.

Also love that you gave Oscar Robinson some love, though I'd switch him and Bird.

I give you credit because

I give you credit because list are so hard to make. I personally think Kibe should be higher. Maybe at 6. Oscar was amazing but he isn't win until he got Kareem on his team. Duncan I also think should be higher. Karl Maline never won and always played with Stockton. I think Paul Pierce should be higher and I would put Durant above McGrady. At 24 he has at least as many scoring titles as Mcgrady and way more playoff success than McGrady ever had.

I'm gonna get negged for this one

True basketball fans, not just the ones that like the highlights and the numbers -- the one that have a real appreciation for the game in its entirety, frown when Bill Russell is not included in the top 3

A couple quick comparisons

If Duncan is 12, there is no way that KG is only 25
If Kidd is 23, Payton has to be higher than 62.
Iverson has to be higher than 41

Just a couple things that stood out. Kudos on the project though

Oh yeah, about that, I still have to finish that off. Here's my top 50 list though which has been saved on my computer.

1 Michael Jordan
2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
3 Wilt Chamberlain
4 Magic Johnson
5 Bill Russell
6 Kobe Bryant
7 Larry Bird
8. Oscar Robertson
9. Shaquille O'Neal
10. Tim Duncan
11. Hakeem Olajuwon
12. Jerry West
13. Karl Malone
14. Julius Erving
15. Elgin Baylor
16. Moses Malone
17. Lebron James
18. John Havlicek

32. George Gervin
33. Dirk Nowitzki
34. Elvin Hayes
35. Patrick Ewing
36. Dwyane Wade

39. Gary Payton
40. Clyde Drexler
41. Steve Nash
42. Dominique Wilkins
43. Kevin McHale
44. Pete Maravich
45. Nate Thurmond
46. Dolph Schayes
47. Nate Archibald

49. Ray Allen (Might seem a bit high but IMO he's the greatest shooter in NBA history, his career accomplishments are superior to Reggie Miller and he was more versatile than Miller too)
50. Artis Gilmore

great list dwight

very well put together top 50 iverson is a little high in my opinion though and nate thurmond and jerry lucas 2 of only 4 players in nba history to get 40 rebounds in a game should probably be moved up but otherwise very well put together
