Just
a handful of youngsters have made it into the next stage (Top 16)
of Euroleague competition. We will continue to take a look
at those who did with their respective teams, in our weekly
report.
Omri
Casspi seems to be peaking at exactly the right time.
He made an impact in 18 minutes scoring 8 points, collecting 5 boards,
dishing out 3 dimes and blocking 2 shots. A nice display of his
versatility and potential and even better he will get the chance
to prove it in the next round of this competition.
Martynas
Gecevicius
excelled in his role. He went perfect from the field for 9 points
on 4 shots. It didn't help his team win the game but for him individually
it was a great showing.
12 points by Milos
Teodosic in 20 minutes of action helped Olympiacos
overcome Real.
Milenko
Tepic only
scored 10 points and was a little down in all other categories from
his usual production but his supplemental role to red hot Milt Palacio
was enough to pull the upset of the year and oust Panathinaikos
from the competition while advancing this young squad another round.
Novica
Velickovic
had 11 points on good shooting but was not as effective as usual
in the rebounds department. He was productive nonetheless and played
a vital role in Partizan's stunner.
Nikola
Pekovic
didn't dominate this time around but he didn't have to as his veteran
teammates Palacio and Kecman brought all the necessary firepower
to upset Athens. Anyway he chipped in 9 points and 5 boards while
drawing a bunch of fouls.
Uros
Tripkovic
is really stepping up in the Adriatic league but on Europe's biggest
stage he is completely off. Again a zero point performance.
Semih
Erden played
only 11 minutes, but while doing so he had 4 points and 3 boards
not the worst production for this kind of minutes.
Gasper
Vidmar got another start but again he failed to deliver
worthy of a starter. Only 12 minutes for 4 points and 2 rebounds.
Oguz
Savas took the night off to some extend. In a mere
12 minutes all he managed was 2 points and a single board.
Even Omer
Asik fell into the slump affecting most of Fenerbahce's
youngsters. All season long he has been a picture of consistency
but in this one he only managed 4 points and 4 boards in 15 minutes.
Emir
Preldzic
was the lone bright spot of Istanbul's youngsters. He was all over
the court going for 9 points and 5 boards supplying support for
the vets in a big win that propelled Fenerbahce into the next round.
Baris
Hersek
finally scored his first points on this level of play and managed
to get 8 minutes of experience, going for 3 boards. Nice to see
that he is getting some minutes and producing when he does.
Paulao
Prestes
got 5 minutes which he used for 2 points and 2 boards. A nice showing
from the bigman who seems to be ready to contribute more.
Albert
Moncasi
didn't get off the bench as usual in a nail biter between Barca
and CSKA. Alexey
Shved had
the same story for the opposing squad this time around.
Sergio
Llull got
a DNP.
