Nets Likely to Take Wes Johnson

Wesley JohnsonWesley JohnsonAccording to sources the Nets indeed will take Wes Johnson with their 3rd pick meaning that Derrick Favors will likely fall to the Timberwolves at 4.

Taking Johnson over Favors makes sense in the short term as the team is looking to make a quick splash with new billionaire owner Mikhail Prokhorov and set a precedence of winning. They also could be looking to add one of the high-profile power forward free agents (Bosh, Amare, Dirk). But that strategy could easily backfire if they were unable to sign one of them.

Luke Babbitt 8 or 9

The Clippers and Jazz are both in love with the tough-nosed, sweet-shooting forward. With Ed Davis likely going 7th to the Pistons, as Joe Dumars has him 7th on his board, Al Farouq Aminu being available at 8 appears likely. The Clippers, who need a SF, will likely decide between Aminu and Luke Babbitt. If they opt for Aminu, Utah would get the player they covet in Babbitt.

Daniel Orton to Indiana?

Daniel Orton has been rumored to be slipping of late. Not having an agent certainly doesn’t help his cause and canceling workouts with teams also isn’t a great way to insure a pick. We’ve heard that Orton may have a promise with either Oklahoma City at 21 or Miami at 18. He shut down workouts only to have one more workout with Indiana at 10.

Toronto Tuesday Workout

The Raptors worked out Cole Aldrich and Devin Ebanks today. Both players are firmly be in the mix at 13. Toronto didn’t figure that Aldrich would be available to them until recently, but with Babbitt potentially going at 9 to Utah, the chance of Aldrich being available at 13 appears very possible.

Toronto remains very high on Ebanks, and as we reported last week and would like to add a mid-first rounder to target him. Another player who the team was high on, Avery Bradley, appears to have fallen out of favor and should ultimately slip down a few spots from their pick. He was left out of the green room invites.

Bucks to Look for Eventual Redd Replacement

With Michael Redd's second major knee injury, the Bucks will need to look for a 2-guard to eventually replace him.

We hear that the Bucks are extremely high on Lance Stephenson and could even consider taking him over Xavier Henry, James Anderson AND Avery Bradley. Stephenson is all over the place on draft boards as a high risk/reward type of pick.

The Bucks completed a deal for Corey Maggette today, which means selecting a physical wing like Stephenson makes less sense.

Green Room Invites

The list of invites has grown to 15. They are as follows: John Wall, Evan Turner, Derrick Favors, Wesley Johnson, DeMarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Al Farouq Aminu, Luke Babbitt, Ekpe Udoh, Ed Davis, Gordon Hayward, Cole Aldrich, Paul George, Pattrick Patterson, Xavier Henry.

Favors/Cousins

I can't imagine Favors and Cousins both being left out of the top 3 of this draft. They could easily be 2 of the best 3 players in this draft when we reflect on this draft in a few years. I definitely think the Nets are up to something here.

im just not sure how favors fits in with minnesota. He is pf and they already have a bit jam there with love and jefferson. Not sure I like any of their ability to play center for the long term.

IMO

The Nets are only saying they will take Johnson to try to pry the 16th pick from the Wolves.

yah if nets take wes then the wolves are kind of in a bit of a hard place since they dont need PF they could maybe trade down and get more picks and maybe try to do some trades for vets. And i highly doubt they will take cousins since "his agent wouldnt let him workout for the wolves organization" And people ripped me for saying he was an idiot to not workout for a top pick team g1 gl hi5

With this they are pretty

With this they are pretty much giving up on signing Lebron though...and if they sign Dwade or Joe Johnson it pretty much kills Courtney Lee and/or Twills value, which makes their moves in the last couple years look like a waste.

Pretty much if they take Favors or Johnson it could come back to bite them in the a$$.

Go over to Canis Hoopus,

Go over to Canis Hoopus, season ticket holders have been allowed in every workout for the past couple of weeks and were allowed to talk to Kahn before and after the workouts in what's supposed to be a closed room conversation, but why would any fan withold that information from another fan, tons of stuff over on that site. They're not taking Johnson, no way, they'll take Cousins over him, he has more value. They really want Favors because they think he can be that Amare type to Nash like he will with Rubio when he comes over next year. They also don't think they'll play him more than 20 minutes per game to start off with with how raw he still is offensively. They're still going to resign Darko and expect them to move up to get Paul George, their brass thinks he'll be better than Wes Johnson, I've heard possibly to Memphis' 12 or even earlier, maybe to the Clippers, who they offered Corey Brewer and the 16th to to move up to 8. Expect Jefferson to be moved at next trade deadline unless a massive offer is proposed by another team earlier, that's very unlikely though.

Not only Douglas-Roberts....

In addition to that move the Bucks also have traded Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric to the Warriors for Corey Magette.

Derrick Favors

Favors will end up in San Antonio, Front Court with Big fundamental, Richard Jefferson is about to get traded in return for him with future picks plus their own pick this year, Parker, Hill, Favors, TD, McDyess. Manu sixth man. Favors is not Al Horford comparion, he's a cross between beasley and Josh Smith. Freak Athete, D in the paint, no perimeter D, will add a jumpshot later, Don't Underestimate him. Post up when he feels, and will house anyone in the paint,
