#MSPreps hoops: Buchanan brothers lead Madison Central to easy 'W'

Boys

Madison Central 101, Mendenhall 54: At Mendenhall, senior Leroy Buchanan led they way for the Jaguars with 21 points. His younger brother Shun scored 16 points, and Keenan Barnes added 12 points for Madison Central.

Forest Hill 76, Clinton 72: At Jackson, the Arrows fell to 1-1. Galin Smith led Clinton with 18 points, Dante Thornton scored 12 points and Malik Wilson added 13 points.

Pearl 63, Hattiesburg 46: At Pearl, Tristan Walley led all scorers with 15 points. Cameron Walker led the Pirates with 14 points, and Brandon Boston added 12. Malik McNair hit two 3-pointers in the third quarter to help Pearl seal its win.

Callaway 78, Jim Hill 43: At Jackson, Malik Newman led the Chargers with 25 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Dimencio Vaughn tabbed a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Girls

Meridian 46, Lanier 41: At Meridian, the Wildcats overcame a fourth quarter deficit after two Lanier starters, Kristy Armwood and Kadaria Thompson, fouled out of the game in the final quarter. Dandy Dozen member Brittany Rose scored 22 points for Lanier.

Terry 48, Brookhaven 25: At Terry, the Bulldogs improved to 3-0. Te'Kayla Tassin led the way with 10 points and four steals in a victory over Ole Brook.

Raymond 39, Warren Central 35: At Raymond, the Rangers started out on a 13-2 run and maintained a 10-plus point lead throughout the night. Kyoenia Harris led all scorers with 13 points, and Octavia Barnes added 8 points. Raymond held Warren Central star Ama Arkoful to seven points.

Callaway 51, Jim Hill 48: At Jackson, the Tigers hit a 3-pointer with 26 seconds left in the 4th quarter to pull within two of Callaway. Twila Hill scored all of the Chargers points in the first quarter and finished with 10 points. Callaway's Tiara Robbins had a game-high 21 points.
