King of the Hill

The Big Ten is a conference to be feared. Just ask Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame. Despite claims of a weak middle and a limited number of tournament-worthy squads, the conference is finishing the non-conference season strong, picking up 18 wins in 22 games this week. And while the competition wasn’t incredible (only one top 25 victory in those 18), what was particularly impressive was all the superb individual performances we saw this past week. Kendrick NunnKendrick NunnAnd for only the second time this season, the Illinois Fighting Illini have strung together back-to-back wins, and since a troubling 2-3 start that included a pair of losses (and two close calls) to mid-major opponents. But since the return of Kendrick Nunn, Illinois has gone 3-2 with the two losses coming to very good teams in Iowa St. and Notre Dame.
