Big-time point guard Tre Jones has six offers
WESTFIELD, Ind. – Point guard Tre Jones isn't satisfied with being one of the best point guards in the class of 2018, he wants to be the best. He's also piling up impressive scholarship offers.
The younger brother of Tyus Jones, who was a five-star prospect before heading off to Duke and the Timberwolves of the NBA, Tre had the opportunity to play in front of his older brother over the weekend. He also soaks up as much knowledge from him as he can.
"This is my brother's only chance to come out and watch me this spring and summer so I want to play the best I can for him," Jones said. "He's just been telling me to play with a chip on my shoulder. He knows how hard we've been working and he's been working with me since last summer. He just wants me to prove to the country what I'm capable of. I just want to come out here and be one of the best point guards in the class. I'm always working to get better."

The advice and the work is paying off when it comes to scholarship offers. Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Minnesota, Oregon and UCLA have all told him he can come play for them.
"I have six offers right now and maybe I'll get a couple more after the open period," he said. "If I don't then I'm very happy with these six schools and how they work with their point guards."
Because his brother played at Duke, there is an easy connection with the Blue Devils. Mike Krzyzewski and his staff spent a lot of time watching Jones in April.
"Duke is in the mix for sure," Jones said. "Of course with my brother's connection there I'm very comfortable with the coaching staff and what they're all about."
With their recent success, Minnesota has been making some headway and the three Pac-12 programs have made some impressions because he sees an open style of play out West.
"All three Pac-12 schools play the same in my opinion," said Jones. "Heavy offensive teams and you know Pac-12 basketball is a lot of fun to watch."
Most speculation has Jones favoring Duke and UCLA. For now, at least, he's side-stepping that talk and locked into being open in the process.
"The recruiting process is going really well," said Jones. "I'm still taking it slow and trying not to skip any steps along the way. I plan on narrowing things down in June and then taking my five official visits after the AAU season."
