VIDEO: Baylor-bound Mark Vital's controversial buzzer-beating dunk

There are buzzer beaters. There are dunks. And then there are buzzer-beating dunks.

Baylor commit Mark Vital threw down a game-winning slam for the ages for Advanced Prep International (Dallas) in a 70-69 win over Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) at DeMatha Catholic’s ninth annual National High School Hoops Festival in Hyattsville, Md.

With 4.1 seconds remaining and API trailing by one, five-star junior forward Billy Preston drove the length of the floor, got the ball up on the rim between two defenders, and the Baylor-bound Vital did the dirty work, cleaning up for the win.

Even more remarkable: Preston played just eight minutes after suffering a knee injury in his previous game, according to 247sports.com. He finished with four points and four rebounds — the most important of which came with almost no time left on the clock.

Vital’s buzzer-beating bonanza didn’t come without controversy, as Capitol Hoops reports many in attendance argued Preston’s attempt was still in the cylinder and believed Vital should have been nullified by an offensive goaltending call on the play.

Honestly, though, how are refs supposed to blow a whistle when everyone in the crowd is going bananas because somebody just threw down A BUZZER-BEATING DUNK?!?!
