Player of the Week

School of Hard Knox

College basketball is officially back. Opening weekend never gets people that excited because it consists of big schools paying a bunch of money to smaller schools to blow them out. Unless someone decided to take a risk like Billy Kennedy and the Aggies and open against a top-15 team. But, A&M came out better than most expected and embarrassed West Virginia as if they were a smaller school 88-65 in the Armed Forces Classic in Germany. After eight long months of no collegiate basketball, it finally hits you that it is back the morning of the Champions Classic.

The Real McCoy

Player of the Week

Brandon McCoy – C – UNLV

In his first college game, McCoy went to town during a 108-66 victory over Florida A&M. The 7’1 center has showed an elite inside-outside game scored 25 points (11-19) and hauled in 18 rebounds (9 offensive) in only 23 minutes. With a usage rate like that, expect a lot of big performances from McCoy this season. He also went 3-4 from the free throw line, which, albeit a small sample size, is encouraging.

The Fox Says: I'm Back!

Rinse, wash, repeat. Kentucky just won its 30th SEC tournament title and its 3rd consecutive as John Calipari joins Tubby Smith and Rick Pitino to tie them for their 5th overall title in their tenures at UK. But, the commonwealth of Kentucky doesn’t settle for SEC tournament titles. Hence, why they only hang banners for national championships. But, Kentucky is not the only SEC school who has a chance to claim a national title. Florida, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina join Kentucky in the big dance.
