2013 Hoop Summit: Team USA Recap

Talent was not the issue for this year’s version of Team USA in the Hoop Summit. While the World Team’s size might have been hard to overcome, the Americans had some similar issues to last year’s squad with regard to lack of team play. Also, the World Team having athleticism equal to or greater than Team USA put a major hitch in the full court press that has been effective in stifling opponents in past Hoop Summit contests.

2013 Nike Hoop Summit: World Team Practice Notes Monday-Wednesday

Roy Rana returns for his third stint as coach of the World Team, with Marin Sedlacek assisting in his 13th appearance at the Hoop Summit. Both seemed very pleased with a deep and talented roster that should be very competitive in the game on Saturday. The first four practices available to the scouts/agents/media have showed some signs of what these players may offer down the line and for many of them, the future is bright.

1. Brandon Davies 6’9 235 lbs. Forward (BYU)- Davies led his team to the championship on Saturday at Churchland High School as he scored 23 points on 10 for 14 shooting and captured the PIT MVP.

2013 Jordan Brand Classic: International Prospects

On Saturday, Brooklyn's Barclays Center held the 2013 edition of Jordan Brand Classic, with the international game opening the competition. In a close 76-72 game, the black squad prevailed, despite 24 points from Canadian Jamal Murray, who led the white team. Sharing Co-MVP with Murray was Croatian forward Lovro Mazalin, who finished with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Here are the prospects that showed the most potential from an NBA perspective:

While the 2013 version of the Jordan Brand Classic came down to the wire, the overall flow of the game lacked a tangible rhythm. Congratulations to the 2013 National Champion Louisville Cardinals. The Cards took down Michigan in the title game on Monday night in one of the better games/matchups in recent memory. The title game featured two of the most complete teams in college basketball. And it wasn't just the title game. The Final Four as a whole was must see TV for all basketball fans.
