NBA Draft: Top 10 Shooting Guards

Sat, 05/19/2012 - 10:16am

The shooting guard field is a strong one, with all ten (eleven) of these guys capable of drawing first round interest. Last year the only 2-guards who went first round were Klay Thompson, Alec Burks, Iman Shumpert and Marshon Brooks. This year it wouldn't be a surprise to see the six 2s go top 20. Here are our ten best shooting guards who have declared in 2012.

European Final Four Recap

Wed, 05/16/2012 - 12:56pm

Euro Final Four

Istanbul was my 7th European Final Four in 8 years (Moscow, Athens, Madrid, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona) having only missed Prague. Complete with an incredible comeback and game winning shot, this year was easily the most exciting and memorable, with only Athens coming close.

WIll Barton Interview

Mon, 05/14/2012 - 7:20am

A consensus top ten player coming out of high school, Will Barton made the most of his two seasons at Memphis. During his two seasons he helped lead the Tigers to two NCAA Tournaments, two Conference USA Tournament Championships and one regular season title. He led the team in both scoring and rebounding during his sophomore year and has established himself as one of the top wings in this draft class. A determined and focused kid from Baltimore, Barton is ready to take the next step and realize his dream of playing in the NBA.

NBA Draft: Top 10 Point Guards

Sun, 05/13/2012 - 8:19am

The point guard field is shallow this year, with only two worthy of lottery consideration and four potential first rounders. In fact, of the 10 listed below, only half or so are natural fits for the position. Teams will have to decide whether to go with a need or a want, especially when you consider the demand for point guard depth. Some of these guys might actually get a boost just for possessing the point guard label. Regardless, here are your top ten point guards who have declared for the 2012 NBA draft.

1. Kendall Marshall 6-4 180 PG UNC So.

NJIT Day One

Fri, 05/11/2012 - 6:05am

The NIJT is underway in Istanbul, Turkey. I'll be here covering both the under-18 event and the European Final Four.

James BirsenJames BirsenDay One saw what probably should have been the Championship game with KK Zagreb eeking out a close 79-76 victory over hometown Ulker Fenerbahçe. Unfortunately these two teams were placed in the same side of the bracket so we won't get to see them play again, making this first match up the likely "early title game".

Value Picks in 2012 NBA Draft

Sat, 05/05/2012 - 9:20am

If you watched the recent NFL draft you probably heard the word “value” hundreds of times. In the NFL Draft, value is easy to spot. Analysts can like a guy, but knock him because they think he should go a round or two later. Good pick; bad value. Great football minds like Bill Belichick (and Bill Walsh before him) trade back almost every year to maximize their picks’ value (so much that it was borderline shocking when Belichick traded up this year).

Andrew Wiggins Interview

Mon, 04/30/2012 - 7:15pm

Andrew Wiggins is a 6'7 sophomore small forward who is making a case as the top player on the high school level regardless of class. We caught up with Wiggins earlier this month after a Hoop Summit practice. Wiggins went on to lead the World Select team to an upset victory over Team USA. He matched up with Shabazz Muhammad and held his own scoring 20 points and 7 boards despite being the youngest player in the game.
