We had some movement in the Power 16 after several prominent non-conference match-ups this week. However, Duke strengthened its hold on the #1 spot with solid wins against fellow 2010 Final Four teams, Michigan State and Butler. While Duke did its part, the ACC wasn’t able to hold off the Big Ten for the second consecutive year in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. In a battle of Power 16 teams, Georgetown downed Missouri in an OT thriller.

We’ve had our fill of turkey and all of the dressings, but our appetite for college hoops is growing by the week. Feast week usually provides a few surprises and this year was no exception. Very few expected UConn to defeat two top ten teams en route to the Maui Invitational championship and not many predicted Tennessee to handle Villanova in the Garden to win the NIT. However, that’s what makes this time of year so much fun. The tip-off tournaments are behind us and the various conference challenges highlight the upcoming week.
Behind hall of fame head coach Jim Calhoun, who looks like he's cut out to be a gun slinger from a old Western movie and their take charge dynamo point guard Kemba Walker, unranked UConn surprised everyone topping #2 Michigan State and #9 Kentucky in the final to claim the 2010 EASports Maui Invitational. This year's event featured numerous upsets and close match ups proving once again to be the premiere preseason college basketball tournament. The following is a look at the top prospects in the tourney from an NBA scouting perspective.
The preseason tourneys are giving college hoops fans a lot of great games early in the year. Michigan State plays Duke on December 1st in what could be a preview of the National Championship game. But before then there are plenty of great match ups to watch. Here's how we see the Power 16 after 2 weeks.
EA Sports Maui Invitational Day 1
This year's Maui Invitational features one of the strongest fields ever. We got a chance to see North Carolina win this event two years ago before cutting down the nets as national champions. Michigan State will look to do the same this year. However, winning this event won't be a cakewalk with a Tuesday match up set with UConn and a potential Wednesday match up with either Washington or Kentucky. Here is a recap of day 1.

At some point in the last 10 years, the Big 12 surpassed the ACC and Pac-10 and entered a toe-to-toe contest with the Big East for the right to be called the nation's best basketball conference.
These things have often proven cyclical over time, though the Big 12 is preparing to lose its two weakest basketball schools in Colorado and Nebraska for next season. But this year, the Big 12 may be the nation's best.
The college basketball season is underway and nearly every team has given us a glimpse of what's to come. While it's early and important not to be over-reactive to early games, here's a first look at our weekly Power 16.
