Last year just 3 point guards went in the first round, including top overall pick John Wall. This coming after one of the strongest point guard drafts ever with 11 point guards taken in the first round in 2009. The position has gotten stronger and deeper once again with a number of lottery candidates and as many as 10 prospects with legitimate first round aspirations. Here is an early look at the top 10 by position, beginning with the point guards.
1. Kyrie Irving 6-2 172 PG Duke Fr.
Often considered the “Mecca of basketball”, New York has as rich a basketball tradition as any place on Earth. As the saying goes,”If you can make a name for yourself (playing) in New York, you can make a name for yourself anywhere.” In that case, it may be time for the rest of the world to take serious notice of Corey Fisher. Unless you live under a rock, you probably heard how the Villanova senior guard set scored 105 points in a summer league game on August 7th.

World Championships, USA Team: Final Cut

There were a lot of really interesting prospects in Portland at the 2010 Nike Global Challenge that should impact the 2012/2013 drafts, and into the future. I will give some notes about the players I saw and some players that stood out.
Team Latin America 73 vs. Team Africa 59 (3rd Place Game)
In a nationally televised game (CBS Sports Network), 6'0 Cezar Guerrero helped the Latin American team claim 3rd place with a masterful 20 point 6 reb, 1 ast, player of the game performance.
Team Latin America built a 10 point lead after 1st quarter 21-11.
Brazilian bigman Christiano Silva Felicio had a nice pass off of a deflection to Gerson do Espirto Santo for a dunk
Team USA 2011 82 Team Asia 44
Day 2 had two sets of games for the high school guys with a morning set of games after warm ups and then an evening set with the high school and college guys both playing.
Latin America 102 Team Asia 63
With around 25-30 NBA scouts on hand, adidas Nations got underway on Friday. The morning session consisted of station drills and some light scrimmages and one on one plays. Jared Sullinger and Renardo Sidney engaged in a solid battle in the post.
In the shooting drills, Damian Lillard's jumpshot stood out as one of the best among the guards. Lillard has a little bit of as low release and pushes the ball out away from his body some but his follow through and consistency make his shot extremely consise.
