An NBA Ready Mind

Thu, 04/23/2009 - 11:49pm
A silent revolution occurred two weeks after my eighth grade graduation: four high school seniors--Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry, and DeSagana Diop--were picked in the first eight slots of the 2001 NBA Draft. Darius Miles had been the third pick the year before, but an exodus like this had never been seen. At the time, I had vague notions of liberty, opportunity, and free-will, and this development fed these puerile emotions. Throughout my first year of high school, I closely monitored the progress of these four trailblazers.
