New Alabama head coach Avery Johnson wasn't kidding when he said he'd recruit potential one-and-done players.

Johnson visited Terrance Ferguson, the No. 6 player in the class of 2016 according to the 247Sports composite rankings, earlier this week. Ferguson is a 6-foot-7, 180-pound five-star shooting guard from Dallas and the No. 1 prospect in Texas.

Ferguson had visits from Texas, Kansas, Baylor and Texas A&M this week and indicated he was open to all schools. Most of his 247Sports Crystal ball reports predict Kansas, but 247Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer put in a crystal ball pick for Alabama on Thursday.

It's too early to tell if Ferguson is a prime NBA prospect, but he's certainly one of the top players in the country and Johnson isn't shying away from that.

Ferguson plays AAU ball for the Mo Williams Academy. Williams is a longtime guard in the NBA who played at Alabama from 2001-03.

This visit comes a week after Johnson made the rounds in Alabama seeing some elite prospects in the upcoming classes. Madison Academy's Josh Langford has offers from Kentucky, Arizona, Michigan State and powerhouses all over the country, but Johnson will make his best pitch with the elite prospect.

Johnson also saw some high-level 2017 prospects in Alabama last week, including Huntsville's John Petty, a wing guard from J.O. Johnson, the Spain Park duo of center Austin Wiley and guard Jamal Johnson and Pelham forward Alex Reese.

There are still spots to fill for next year's team. Alabama is hosting Memphis transfer small forward Nick King, who has two years of eligibility, this weekend.
